anyways, the HP guys have been getting their spanking brand new A6/A8 bluray 6750 laptops in the last 24 hrs....& they look pretty nice on the outside---they posted some pictures on their thread. http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...tcount=694

Now, looks like both of our camps can finally all start having fun gaming on our laptops. I'm one of the few who think we are all a bunch of lucky owners of either of these budget gaming laptops ...! No doubt the 2 best "budget priced" gaming laptop deals to date! But arguably the HP A8 6620+6750 for $525 is probably the true #1 best budget gamer laptop to date. The only laptop I'd prefer over these A6/A8 dual graphic ones are 2ndGen i5 or i7 with GT 540M or better graphics (but they don't exist for $500 or less)...

The best deals in the last 2 months on A6/A8 laptops (with only integrated graphics):

I'd say we all got a good deal and it was pretty easy getting one of these since we had all month (August-Sept) to buy it at $450 & there was enough of them in the USA and Canada to go around for atleast the first 3 weeks. Plus all the support on this thread and the ability to return it no questions asked, & we all became knowledgeable in the overclocking department. I would rank it the 3rd best deal behind 2 dual graphics configurations from the HP deal (HP A8 #1,HP A6 #2, and Asus #3). But it's obviously arguable due to HP's subpar reputation. Every other A6 or A8 laptop without dual graphics (ie. listed above in last post) would follow these deals.

update: I forgot about the people who got more discount from Best Buy clearance and open box coupon--then those people got the #1 deal ...but all arguable since the HP also comes with Bluray, 6750, etc. Regardless of whose deal was better, we can all game nearly equally well for now, which is the important part.

My present driver is Version V8.861.0.0000, so let's hope we see a newer driver update.
I recall in the other thread, that with unofficial 11.8 drivers (v8.881?), the ability to overclock the GPU was lost. But it may not matter just as long as game performance is improved, which was mentioned to be true for DeusEx. Crossing my fingers that it will be the best graphic drivers we've experienced....

Then why do you still care what we're doing with our Asus' over here? I mean, correct me if I'm wrong, but once you've already paid for it, the deal is done. For you at least, there's no reason for further debate, you've already picked a laptop.

For most of us here this is not our only computer, so it's not the end of the world if we could have gotten incrementally more performance for an extra $25. My G73 has BluRay too, demolishes either of these in any benchmark and is also a better price/performance ratio than either of these deals at the just under $800 I got it for on eBay. That doesn't mean I'm not pleased to have a new AMD APU notebook to play with that gets twice the battery life of the thirsty G73 while playing all the same games at acceptable settings.

Let him feel good about himself. Who are we to squash on his HP pride?

An even better reason not to offend people here. If that HP needs work in a year or two and HP really does get out of the laptop market, here and NBR will be the best sources of help. The DV6z and the K53TA are brothers under the skin as they share the same chipset and nearly identical GPUs. Until another lappy comes out with a 6720/6755g2, we are each-other's best source of information.
