Looking for some advice on a 60" HDTV.
I am looking into buying a 60" LED HDTV. A few years back I bought a Samsung 46" LCD and I love it. They were the leaders in the LCD industry at the time. Who is the leader LED market? I don't want or care for 3D at all. What brand should I look at?
Let me take a guess, Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, LG, Vizio are all good brands. not that I care about the 3D feature, but I'd definately get a TV with this feature if I have to buy one today (kind of like 720p vs. 1080p debate back in the old days).
You should look at the displays in a store if you can, a buddy of mine had an LG where the picture was TOO good. Awesome resolution and contrast (I think LG models have the best contrast)
Watching football was amazing, but if you watched scripted tv... It looked like what it actuially was, people on a stage, House MD looked like you were in the studio, it was kinda creepy =p
The Sony XBR-HX929 series, Samsung PND 7000 & 8000 series, and Panasonic TC-P-GT30 are all very good. I'm partial to the Sony. They tend to be more expensive, but its hard to beat the quality and reliability.
In order to make a decision, you need to watch the TV's side-by-side--and don't be afraid to change the channels. Also, try to watch it from the same view angle that you will at home. On some TVs the picture color will start to get washed out if your watching it from the side. This was one of the reasons we bought our current Sony. We have a large sectional sofa, so, I didn't want the picture quality to be poor when watching from the side.
As previous user replied. There is a lot to consider, I am all in for Plasma's if you are a Movie and Sports watcher, not just the motion resolution but also the deep black colors. Also they have way wider viewing angels compared to most LCD or LED. Panasonic so far uses the least amount of energy and is very reliable. However, if you are looking into a TV for viewing it during day times and video games, LCD and LED would be the choice to go. Keep in Mind Samsung likes to use LED with clear matts, which gives really bad reflection. Panasonic Plasma are glasses but have a lot of anti glare reduction. Check them at the stores first, but keep in mind all of the models on the floor is tweaked to look Great! I know cause that was my job. =D
