AMD C60 Driver retrieved from the recovery partition here:

This automated notification from Dropbox that your Public links have been temporarily suspended for generating excessive traffic. This suspension is temporary (3 days for the first time).

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit USB installion
1. You can download a fresh OEM version @ http://msft-dnl.digitalriverconte...-65733.iso
2. use this [cnet.com] tool http://download.cnet.com/Windows-...72600.html to burn iso to your flash drive
3. Change the Boot Priority Order in Bios (tap F2 right after power on) to USB HDD instead of HDD. Now you can reboot to install Windows using your USB drive.
4. Download drivers from acer: http://support.acer.com/us/en/pro...delId=3658 (The Atheros ethernet LAN drivers/Broadcom wireless LAN drivers to get you on the net). If you have a C60 instead of C50 cpu, then you need to download the AMD C60 driver from the above dropbox link, since C60 has not been released officially.
5. Enter windows serial number from bottom of the laptop to activate, then you need to call the automatic activation hotline to active it.

PS: You need to dowload the Broadcom wireless LAN driver before installation, or you won't be able to get online after installation.
You can store the Broadcom driver in the same flash drive after you burn the Windows iso to your flash drive.

In-store only.
Inventory checker is not reliable, go to the store.
I found inventory checker to be reliable. Here it is anyway: Inventory Checker [target.com]

Wiki from previous deal

FAQ
How can you tell if you got the C-50 or the upgraded C-60 processor?
-Check the "Due" field on the outside of the brown box. You do not need to open. You will likely get the C-60 if the "Due" date is 2011/7/30 or later.
-Some people are reporting getting C-60 / AMD-6290 Graphics, and a 250GB hard drive, even though the box says "C-50 / AMD-6250 Graphics"
-Almost positive that the 1.01 BIOS versions contain the C-50s and the 1.04 BIOS versions contain the new C-60s.
-See attached pdf document for easy in-store reference.

Can you install more than 2gb of RAM?
-Even though it says only 2gb ram supported you can install 4gb without any problem.
-Users have reported no noticeable increase and it has been suggested to install a SSD instead of more ram.

Can you watch HD content without stuttering?
-Yes and No. This puppy can decode 1080p Blu-rays while bitstreaming DTS HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD or shooting LPCM over the HDMI!
-Flash content in HD streams fine also.
-Netflix HD stutters badly. This is because Flash utilizes GPU acceleration while Silverlight does not. There is reports that Silverlight 5 will allow GPU acceleration (in beta now) however some users have said that it doesn't help.

For video files, use VLC Media Player with DXVA acceleration. VLC supports H.264 DXVA:
http://wiki.videolan.org/VLC_GPU_Decoding
Also make sure you're running the latest DirectX from Microsoft site.

Alternatively (or both), use Media Player Classic Home Cinema. MPCHC supports H.264, VC-1, and MPEG-2 DXVA:
http://mpc-hc.sourceforge.net/dow...ic-hc.html

My computer is running hot, is there any way to reduce power consumption?
-Yes if you have C-50 processor. See previous deal wiki to under volt the processor. You can drop the idle power usage down to 7 watts!
-C-60 undervolting requires a different profile than C-50 (due to the C-60 having 3 operating "phases" vs. the 2 that the C-50 has). BrazosTweak apparently works if you utilize it accordingly. See post #740. http://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=41694020&postcount=740

I have the C-60 / AMD-6290 and just did a fresh install of Windows 7. My graphics drivers won't load.
-The C-60 drivers are not released yet. Use the Acer Recovery software and extract the drivers before you format!
-See post 677

How Do I factory restore?
-Factory Restore:
Turn on netbook
Let the Acer logo load first.
Hold down Alt and spam F10 (if you hold down alt before the logo shows up, it will fail! and you will get Windows boot loader)
If you do it right, it will said "Windows is loading files...."

Windows XP Video Driver for C-60:

Google "AMD HD 6290 driver" and download the "11-7_xp32_dd_ccc_ocl.exe" file (AMD Radeon HD 6290 Catalyst Software Suite v.11.7, 50.94Mb, 26 Jul 2011) from driverscollection.com. Unzip it with 7-zip, find the "\11-7_xp32_dd_ccc_ocl\$_OUTDIR\Packages\Drivers\Display\XP_INF" folder, add the following line to the "CX122565.inf" file, under the "[ATI.Mfg.NTx86]" section:
Code:
"ATI Radeon HD 6290 " = ati2mtag_Evergreen, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9807&SUBSYS_05981025
A modified inf file, CX122565.inf.zip, is attached for your convenience.

This video shows how to easily access the hard drive, RAM and mini-PCI slots. It was edited and converted from AVCHD 1080p, all done on this little amazing 722!

Here we go again. Smilie

It was a better deal last month for $199.99 net, but even with this new sale costing $20 more, the Acer is still a good deal. The bigger screen and keyboard size makes it more comfortable to work with than your typical 10 inch netbook. RAM easily upgradable to 4GB for $20 more.

Target's sales clerks are trained to get you to buy over priced accessories to try to gain some profit back. Buy your netbook case elsewhere online for as little as $5.
