Sure. I am using dd-wrt in most of my routers at home.
In addition, the huge size (and weight) of this antenna will drag it down from upright position. I have to lean it on something to keep it upward. I also have a 10dB Hawking directional antenna which also shows minimal improvement (~2 dB gain). You will gain a lot more by changing the position and direction of your router. After all failed, I added WDS/repeaters at home to extend the coverage. That's why I have so many routers at home.
