Deal Details

***Update***
SD'ers are reporting that they've been able to call in and negotiate deals and cancel their contracts already.

Here we go again guys!! Sprint had stated that they are increasing their administrative fee to $1.50/line. This is considered a change in the terms of service and will allow you 30 days from the date it's put into effect to cancel your contract without penalty.

This notice should be on your latest bill...

Quote :
Administrative Charge Increase &Terms & Conditions Changes for Consumers
Effective 9/9/11, the Administrative Chargewill increase to $1.50 per line for customersthat receive the charge. For details, visitsprint.com/taxesandfees. In addition, theSprint consumer Terms (Ts&Cs) are changing. Please review them carefully at your local Sprint store or sprint.com/termsandconditions

And per their terms and conditions.....

Quote :
When You Don't Have To Pay An Early Termination Fee
You aren't responsible for paying an Early Termination Fee when terminating Services: (a) provided on a month-to-month basis; (b) consistent with our published trial period return policy; or (c) in response to a materially adverse change we make to the Agreement as described directly below.

Our Right To Change The Agreement & Your Related Rights
We may change any part of the Agreement at any time, including, but not limited to, rates, charges, how we calculate charges, or your terms of Service. We will provide you notice of material changes—and may provide you notice of non-material changes—in a manner consistent with this Agreement (see "Providing Notice To Each Other Under The Agreement" section). If a change we make to the Agreement is material and has a material adverse effect on Services under your Term Commitment, you may terminate each line of Service materially affected without incurring an Early Termination Fee only if you: (a) call us within 30 days after the effective date of the change; and (b) specifically advise us that you wish to cancel Services because of a material change to the Agreement that we have made. If you do not cancel Service within 30 days of the change, an Early Termination Fee will apply if you terminate Services before the end of any applicable Term Commitment.
There have been times where people have called in to cancel and have been given the run around from uninformed Sprint reps. Ask to speak to someone in retentions....RETENTIONS ARE THE ONES WHO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! After all it's their job to keep you.

For the Slickdealers who don't really want to cancel but call in and negotiate a deal not to cancel, please post up what perks/freebies you got

For those of you who are considering doing the port out/ port in method you can port your number to Google Voice for free since Sprint and GV are partnered up (Thanks nkdumb24)

fark the FCC. I just contacted them and they basically told me they will forward the request to Sprint, but besides that, they can't do anything about it. Her response was "when it comes to contract issues, we aren't responsible".

Government dollars put at work.

Contacted the Escalations Line (1-877-544-4076) people and they went back and looked at my record and said yes the CS agent I spoke did make a note that I would NOT have an EFT charge from canceling and porting out my number. This is after I called the executive line and spoke with a lady saying there was no record and the EFT was valid. Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

Guess I'll find out in a few days to see if this really did get taken care of.
Did you already port out? Did you receive a bill with the ETF charge?

My father bought an Windows phone from Microsoft's store and in their terms, they state that you can't have any changes to your plan within 181 days, otherwise the Microsoft store will charge an etf. Will he be charged an ETF if his Sprint contract is voided?

Refused to remove the ETF. Filed a complaint with FCC. If that doesn't do the trick, I will file a complaint with my state AG and phone up my rep and see what they can do.

So, I've been in touch with a reporter over at MSNBC who is interested in possibly doing a story on this. Since I personally didn't get stonewalled by Sprint, my account is basically hearsay. He wants to hear from 3 or 4 people who are having trouble right now, though. If you're interested, please send me a PM, and I'll send you the email address to write in to.

all of this disappoints me since i'm on sprint sero for probably 3 years now and haven't really had any problems with them. i don't want out of my contract but i would like just the OPTION to get a new phone earlier than two years from now if i wanted. i know they change the terms once per year it seems so i don't get why they get so up in arms knowing that they have this written into their own contract

Did you guys know that as of 4/1/11 you had to have at least a ~90/month plan to keep the premier? I knew they were ditching premier and I've had my Evo since it came out so I decided I'd upgrade to the S II Epic seeing as no one seems to be having luck ditching the contract. Frankly I need the unlimited data so I was willing to sign a new contract. Well I can't, because as of 4/1/11 I was no longer eligible for the premier upgrade. WTF! I thought they were just ditching premier now, I never saw anything about it back in April.

I brought up the contract issue on my chat but the rep couldn't care less, so needless to say I'm with you guys on doing whatever possible to at least get out of the contract. I really liked sprint, but they are just digging themselves a hole now, they are getting way to many people pissed at them for company that isn't in that great of financial shape to begin with...

Yep. It was posted here on SD. Sprint was giving people that last upgrade back then if you complained. I managed to snag an upgrade to get the EVO 3D. Less than a year after I got my Evo 4G.

Sprint sucks for sure

Yup, in April, they made Premier into a program that had two tiers. The Silver tier still got the crappy discount off the purchase of overpriced accessories (which are still overpriced even after the discount), and the Gold tier continued to get one year upgrades.
