Deal Details

***Update***
SD'ers are reporting that they've been able to call in and negotiate deals and cancel their contracts already.

Here we go again guys!! Sprint had stated that they are increasing their administrative fee to $1.50/line. This is considered a change in the terms of service and will allow you 30 days from the date it's put into effect to cancel your contract without penalty.

This notice should be on your latest bill...

Quote :
Administrative Charge Increase &Terms & Conditions Changes for Consumers
Effective 9/9/11, the Administrative Chargewill increase to $1.50 per line for customersthat receive the charge. For details, visitsprint.com/taxesandfees. In addition, theSprint consumer Terms (Ts&Cs) are changing. Please review them carefully at your local Sprint store or sprint.com/termsandconditions

And per their terms and conditions.....

Quote :
When You Don't Have To Pay An Early Termination Fee
You aren't responsible for paying an Early Termination Fee when terminating Services: (a) provided on a month-to-month basis; (b) consistent with our published trial period return policy; or (c) in response to a materially adverse change we make to the Agreement as described directly below.

Our Right To Change The Agreement & Your Related Rights
We may change any part of the Agreement at any time, including, but not limited to, rates, charges, how we calculate charges, or your terms of Service. We will provide you notice of material changes—and may provide you notice of non-material changes—in a manner consistent with this Agreement (see "Providing Notice To Each Other Under The Agreement" section). If a change we make to the Agreement is material and has a material adverse effect on Services under your Term Commitment, you may terminate each line of Service materially affected without incurring an Early Termination Fee only if you: (a) call us within 30 days after the effective date of the change; and (b) specifically advise us that you wish to cancel Services because of a material change to the Agreement that we have made. If you do not cancel Service within 30 days of the change, an Early Termination Fee will apply if you terminate Services before the end of any applicable Term Commitment.
There have been times where people have called in to cancel and have been given the run around from uninformed Sprint reps. Ask to speak to someone in retentions....RETENTIONS ARE THE ONES WHO MAKE IT HAPPEN!!! After all it's their job to keep you.

For the Slickdealers who don't really want to cancel but call in and negotiate a deal not to cancel, please post up what perks/freebies you got

For those of you who are considering doing the port out/ port in method you can port your number to Google Voice for free since Sprint and GV are partnered up (Thanks nkdumb24)

This will be a litmus test for all of us vs. SPCS.
Essentially, they've done 2 things:

1) Claim the $1.99 admin charge has always been in place - Not in the T&C but in fine print on advertisements

2) Unilaterally, changed policy & contractual language - mid contract

I don't see how they won't back track from this esp. with the public outcry that I haven't seen against a company in quite awhile.

On the phone with Sprint right now...
The lady is telling me that in the contract it states they can raise the admin fee up to $1.99 and the customer not being able to cancel the contract.
I told her it's a new contract and I read her an 'old' contract (pdf file in first post) and she said there was nothing she could do but could escalate it.

So now i'm on hold waiting for another rep to escalate this...

Don't mention any fees. Just say that the contract has changed (be vague at first) and see what they say.

now i'm with another rep...he's stating that it says the admin fees can go up to $1.99 and I can't cancel it.

I read him the contract again and now he told me that he's pulling up my contract and i'm on hold again.

....edit:
so he came back and basically said the first thing that the lady said. Told me to check my last billing statement (which he referred to as my contract) and on the last page all the way at the bottom, read about the $1.99 fee.

So then I read him my 'contract' again and he said he had to escalate the problem to his manager and his manager would call me back. I told him that I would like to speak to his manager but he said it wasn't possible since it's past 5:00p.m. eastern time and that he would find out more information and call me back.

I'm calling again and mentioned the contract change only.

So the guy said "i've gotten a lot of these calls but there is nothing we could do"

Now i'm on hold while he is 'researching'

Users have reported that using the admin fee increase to get out of the contract doesn't work very well anymore.

Instead, try pointing out the change in arbitration clause.

However, I've filed a complaint with my state's AG to get on Sprint's case.

Keep trying!

I filed with the FCC just now
I doubt it'll get me anywhere but hopefully something happens.
Is there a link where we could contact our attorney general?
Also, would you be able to copy and paste to me what you sent to them?

it seems like most of these reps are puppets by the higher ups in Sprint. I spoke to three people and they all said "let me speak to my supervisor about this"

Yea, I'm sure they really had a conversation with their supervisor

Just google search "attorney general + <your state>"

I am drafting up what I am going to tell them so I cannot copy paste it yet.

Well I received a letter from Sprint regarding the excessive data roaming on my line. This was the line I got out of etf when this thread started. Looks like those who who are roaming to get out will have their wishes answered.

Now I have a new line and the the data roaming is high. Lol.

May I ask what this letter says? I plan to do the exact same thing.

Summary is they are monitoring my account and told me to adjust. Right to suspend /terminate service if usage exceeds 5gb per month in total or 300mb per month while off network roaming.

Unlimited data, huh Sprint.

How long were you doing the excessive data on roaming? One month, two month, etc?

They said a six month period. I used the Verizon PRL since my coverage sucks at home. Don't want an airave even if its free cause its considered a line on my account and subject to fees and taxes. I would forget to update my prl outside of home which led to this letter.

Whatever that line is gone.

That's pretty much confirmation that pure capped or throttled data is coming. If they cap something that people are already paying extra for, then they definitely will cap something that's "included" in the plan price.
