The biggest entitlement problem there is ill give you a hint: its the biggest single number on our budget republicans will always bang on about spending cuts... democrats have proposed such spending cuts, the problem is republicans dont like touching THEIR precious entitlement programs, how dare someone even suggest that (H. Con. Res. 28 [govtrack.us]). Military spending crosses both sides of the aisle, democrats dont like to touch their entitlements either. Hmm, how does a big fat military contract from our unbridled defense budget sound? Yeah sure it wont get you that many jobs because a defense contract is mostly siphoned upwards to the execs of defense corporations, but for a governor, senator, or rep, a jobs a job. Obama is a war mongering idiot just like bush was, hes continued to let this country piss away money in afghanistan and iraq. Hes let military spending INCREASE 3.3% from 2009 to 2010. However even if he was a true liberal who didnt believe in our "occupations" i doubt he has the capability to solve the problems by himself If you think we can tackle spending without severely reducing the sacred pig of our military then do everyone a favor and never participate in a debt ceiling discussion again. Our country is a single man trying to pay his mortgage while also keeping up a scarface-esque coke habit. Cant touch the coke.. no... mustn't touch it. Lets instead stop paying for electricity, yeah that will solve it. Afghanistan is untouchable, iraq is untouchable, weapon programs are untouchable http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_B5-1oee...rriers.gif Interesting amount of nimitz class carriers we "require"... no other country in the world has a nimitz class carrier. Why do we require 12 of them? To build just one costs 4.5 billion! R&D for the program was around $50 billion! F-22 raptor? Oh... that plane that we've abandoned and never actually flew a mission? Yeah, that cost us $65 billion.. V-22 osprey? $27 billion, and its killed several dozen troops in its development. Dont worry, when you have a blank check for military spending there are new programs lined up around the block to get a little piece of the pie for whatever pointless technology you can sell to the saps in washington with the promise of "jobs". When one program attracts enough negative press another one is there to stand in its place If youre serious about spending cuts then demand that we start removing troops from iraq, afghanistan, and the rest of the middle east today. Defense does not mean we are constantly on the offense in every corner of the globe. Severely cut spending to companies like lockheed and others whose sole goal is to make shit that military nuts can masturbate over but wont actually help us when fighting against insurgents who only have ak47s, rpgs, and IEDs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mili...ted_States oh my god, looking at this page is just getting me mad. We're still spending BILLIONS OF DOLLARS ON THE V-22 OSPREY Last edited by Gotchaforce; 08-18-2011 at 06:44 PM.. |

I'd take the military over social security, medicare, food stamps, free housing, welfare, etc.
This country has funded a military since its inception. It has not funded food stamps, social program and the numerous other programs that just throw money into the can to fund a bunch of ingrates that just bitch and moan about what others have and they don't. Just look at how much crying goes on about taxes and what "rich have". I don't give a fark what rich people have. I don't know what I'd do with a Lambo or Ferrari. Sure, drive it, but I'd probably sell the stupid thing when I found how much it costs to change the oil. Also, federal waste is a NOOT issue (no one opposes this). The truth: Management at IRS can blame themselves and how they have chaotic and poor management, but God-forbid you, or I, or anybody else in America gets audited and doesn't have their ducks in order and s***-together, your ass is going to court or jail.
Shout out to Congressman Mike Kelly for stating it as it is... Link [realclearpolitics.com] |

"throw money into the can" Is that what people do with welfare? throw it in a can? |

Not that I support excessive military spending, but at least when we waste money on the military we have something to show for it, the most technologically advanced and powerful military in the world. When we overspend on entitlements, all we get is a exponentially increasing class of people dependant on government handouts to survive. That and more democratic votes.

Considering that a lot of progressives don't believe in Jesus or any power higher than themselves, I fail to see your point. |

As an added bonus if we still lived in early 1900s, Obama would be serving food to some fat white people instead of being the commander in chief. Good old days??? |

"provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States;" Lol Note how i do not want to get rid of our entire military. Hawk2007 wants to keep the military where it is, and get rid of welfare. Thats what you should find offensive. |

Now youre going to admit you cant actually explain why we need 12 nimitz class carriers, thousands of nuclear warheads, the "threat" of an f-22 raptor that doesnt fly on missions... its not too hard to admit that though, considering no one actually knows. |
