I want a new tablet, and this Touchpad just won't die - nor is it really obsolete! Maybe someone will steal it. Wink

It may not be obsolete but in tech terms, its ancient. Mine is being used as a photo frame because its not very reliable in terms of battery life and CPU power.

I use it to browse the internet, check email, play some basic games, and watch streaming movies from Plex. Overclocked to a rather conservative 1.5ghz. It could last me another two years, conceivably. I do like the portability of 7 inches though.

I'm not sure I understand what your are stating by " Androids browser or whatever ". This project will allow you to run actual Android applications directly on the Touchpad. You will not need to install Andriod ( have a dual boot system ) as it has been and currently is done.

Many comments were made in the past few days that I would like to respond to:

JellyBean 4.0 - We will originally release ACL running Gingerbread 2.3 with a goal for a free update in the future. The more people that pledge, download and use the program the easier the goal will be to exceed.
Netflix - Will work on the ACL software! Although there are some bugs right now we plan to release the alpha video to you tonight. Stay tuned for Episode 2

Pre3 - Those of you clamoring for this to be released on the pre3, we have no intention on doing a future Kickstarter campaign for that project. If you want to make that happen, future donations from this campaign will be going toward that goal. The final cost has not been determined and we are still testing the product. But this could be as high as the original funding goal for this project.
Other Applications - We will be releasing videos of different applications running over the next 7 days of our campaign, including apps like FireFox. So hold on to your seats!

have you heard anything else regarding this? they got funded $10K more than what they asked for...and I know its only been a month, but I didn't see any kind of response or comments regarding what stages or ETA's there are

edit...nevermind,looks like early beta release will be early August, and official release will be sept 30...so probably around christmas I'm guessing

Wow, didn't know you could set a device password. A simple Google came up with this

http://forums.webosnation.com/hp-...scode.html

Might I suggest you don't use a feature like this unless you can remember or log your password somewhere. Lastpass works well.

So if you sell your touchpad, is it enough if you reset the device to initial factory settings... or do you also need to go on the website and delete your acct info as well somehow?

Mandatory webOS system update

A certificate used on webOS devices expires on July 23, 2013. For the system to be able to use cloud services such as Backup/Restore and App Catalog the certificate needs to be updated.

Beginning June 6th an automatic update to the Application Catalog has replaced the certificate. That means that if your device is running webOS “2.1” or greater you can have the certificate installed automatically by activating your device and accepting the update.

If your device is running a webOS version older than “2.1”, or you want to manually install, go to the HP App Catalog on your device and select the app called “App Catalog Update”, download and install it on your system.

To install the new certificate, download and install this application.

After July 23rd, 2013, it will be necessary to take special steps to install this update. Details will be available on the HP support site (http://email.hpwebosnewsletters.c...Tn04Cpr0Gg)

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Does anyone know if this will cause issues with rooted Touchpads with Android installed on them?
