Deal Details

At target.com they have this TV listed with a regular price of $499, price cut to $329:

http://www.target.com/p/Apex-40-C...A-13516643

At my local Target the TV was advertised at $529, price cut to $499. It rang up at $499, but they matched the online price since online it says "store price, not sold online". I've got the TV home and hooked up; it looks really good.

They wanted me to come back and bring a "hard copy" print out of the web page, but they were ok when I showed them the page on my phone. If you want the deal though, maybe bring a printed copy just in case??

Is this typical of Target or is it very YMMV?

They told me that if it was available online, they'd consider it a separate online deal and couldn't honor that price. But since it says "store price" and it's not sold online they honored it. So yeah, it may be YMMV ...

I rarely watch a TV but have always wanted to buy an affordable TV.

Is this price any good?

If you don't know the name Apex... just do some searching first. I could never recommend them.

6.5ms response time might not work for what I need.
Ghosting is a major concern.

Outstanding price though.

Not a good price if you don't watch TV at least once a week

Not a good buy even for a rare occasion.

I still have a Dell 2005FPW monitor with 12ms response time.

Back then, we loved that. Spoiled.

Further, 6.5ms is 150Hz. That's faster refresh than the TV accepts (120Hz). I fail to understand how you can even see 6.5ms, much less it be a deal-breaker.

Nevermind. I just read the specs and noticed it doesn't have a built-in toaster. Thumbs down.
