What is this model comparable to in panasonics lineup? The s series or st?

I'd guess the S series since it does not appear to be 3D. By the way here's the link [costco.com]

60 is really too big for me but it does seem like a great deal for this size tv. Very hard to find information on it, though. Avsforums doesn't seem to be talking about it and I'd like to know which model it's closest to or how this Costco model differs.

It appears to be very identical to the s30 model with one difference according to Panasonic website:

Low end. No neo pdp, lower than 1080p motion resolution, I believe (I think it's like 900 lines). Blacks are not great because of missing neo pdp panel (or whatever they call it now). You can do much better for a few hundred more.

what kind of law requires you to collect state tax on a pre-discounted price when the discount is instant and not future dated like a mail in rebate ? Sales tax are computed on the sale price at the register...if the tax is on $1499, then the sale price is $1499, not $999. If that is the case, the deal should be stated thus - $1499 + tax - post $500 Costco discount. On a high tax state like CA, the S.T itself is close to $150, so there's no way this makes sense as being called or advertised as $999

not sure if costco changed its policy, last i was charged full retail price on light bulbs though there was instant rebate(socal edison subsidized) involved. on the same exact bulbs,HD and lowes only charged tax for the final amt(post rebate)

That's correct. Costco calculates tax based on pre-discount prices.

Next model up in Panasonic's line is the TCP60GT30 (assuming S/ST30 are more or less the same for 2D), which goes for almost $2200 on Amazon. Did you mean a different brand?

Agreed. I thought so too that sales tax should be calculated on the final checkout price at the register. mail-in rebate is a different story, though.

The same story as when you go to best buy, fry's or anywhere, see a tv for $1000, have some negotiation of some sort or PMing, then the price goes down to $600. Should the sales tax be based on the pre-discounted price of $1000 or the post-discounted price of $600?

This doesn't make sense and I am not sure how legal it may be.

S and ST are not the same. ST is the one that has the NeoPDP panel and full motion res. THAT is the step up from this.

TC-P60ST30 with NeoPDP and full motion res is $1596 at Amazon now. Didn't even try to find a lower price. I'm sure this could be had for $1250-$1300 shipped with a little work.
