Building new gaming PC - video card selection
'Sup GL.
I'm building a new gaming rig for BF3/Skyrim/every other game in the next 2 years or so. I just pulled the trigger on the majority of my build except the video card. Here's what I got:
Intel Core i5 2500k
Gigabyte GA-Z68XP Mobo
Patriot Gamer 8gb DDR3 1600 RAM
Corsair HX750 PSU
Cooler Master HAF 922 Case
Plus HDD, DVD drive, CPU cooler. Sitting at just under $600 for the build right now. I want to keep it under $1k. So I'm stuck on the video card dilemma. I only game at 1920x1080 max (sometimes even less if its a text heavy game and I want to read small print, like some RPGs) on my 42" TV. I think I want to stick with 1 card right now with the option of adding a second in a year or so (which is why the powerful PSU and SLI/CF ready mobo). What do you guys think?
I've been looking at a 6950 1gb (not 2gb cause of resolution limit), GTX 560 TI, possibly GTX 570 or 6970. I was real tempted by the FP deal on 6870s for $160 with extra game coupons to sell, but missed out on that deal.
Again like $400 to spend, would love to keep it less though. Sweet spot is $250 to $300.
Edit- Oh yea, and I'm skipping on SSD for this build. Still too pricey with iffy failure problems. I can live with longer load times and bootups.
