Crucial M4 2.5 inch 128GB SATA3 Solid State Drive(MLC) $178 + FS

i would like this SSD but i know the prices on the 128GB will come down some more soon.

Price ALREADY went down. Buy.com had them in stock for $160 last month. No guarantee that they will hit that again soon, but buy.com isn't special so I suspect other retailers may be dropping prices soon as well.

ive been 1-click away from buying it a couple of times now.

i want to say the price will come down between now and BF.

what it looks like is the older smaller 60GB and 64GB SSDs are getting sold off cheaper so the 128GB should drop in price soon.

not to thread jack but those speeds are quite normal among new gen SSD's. my Corsair FOrce3 is doing those speeds and i got it for around $180 on deal here 3-4 month ago(also 120gb version), as a matter of fact M4 after updatre FW9 does 510 as well

The firmware updates can increase the speed? Need some advice, which brand is more known to have the lowest failure rate? Reviews around the web are so mixed.

The latest firmware on the Crucial M4 increased the read speeds. The write speeds remained the same.

Intel usually is associated with the lowest failure rate but not the cheapest or fastest drives. I believe talking reliabilty, price and performance into account the M4 is the best.

But would the write speeds bottleneck it compared to a faster one?

Something you need to keep in mind is a decent SSD won't always be a bottleneck. I have a Kingston V+100 in my C2D laptop and it maxes the CPU on program loads or multitasking. It also hits the max transfer rate for it's SATA interface. Getting a faster drive wouldn't do anything for me.

People are going a little nuts over SSDs, IMO. The difference between good, mainstream drives is minor, unless you're into benchmarking all day instead of getting work done.
