No mention of Intel wi-di anywhere...
You need to have an Intel i Processor (1st or 2nd gen), this asus has a Pentium = NO WiDi

Also, Asus laptops bought at best buy are not eligible to get Asus's free 2nd year limited warranty or 1 ADW (accidental)

they're very similar. for everyday use, surfing, office apps, watching movies etc, they will perform about the same. the Samsung has an older processor, which benchmarks slightly higher, but the Asus has slightly better graphics. i believe the Asus will get better battery run time. i would get the Asus.

I don't like Asus cause the tech support sucks, but the lappy itself is not bad.

in this case that may not be true. i don't know much about the HP being discussed here, but for those willing to look closely, the Asus chassis is solid, and it's the same one being used up the line to $600 models. IMO this one is a no-brainer at $300-350 with 4GB ram.

What are you talking about - there are serious differences between the two laptops mentioned in this thread. You are saying that a better processor doesnt matter? That manufacturer doesnt matter? If you want a low end laptop, you should still do your due diligence and buy the system that is the best deal. Just because the stakes (prices) are lower doesnt mean that you shouldn't compare specs? Ridiculous post for a website like slickdeals.

except for the Lenovo G570 deal at fry's. having used both, i think the lenovo feels more solid than the asus plus the tactile feedback on the keyboard is better. but overall feature, the asus does offer quite a bit more than the lenovo if you care for gigabit lan, hdmi and a look that's not so boring.
