Yeah, they definitely do. If you break 250g twice in a six month period, they cancel you and ban you for a year.

I would say to give me your information and have me do it, but that would take too much time.

All you need to tell them, is that you are tired of the inconsistency of the performance package and that you'd like to upgrade your internet to the $29.99 Blast for 12 months promotion. Be sure that they properly add the package, removing the old, and get a confirmation number at the end. Be persistent, and they will actually look through that list I was talking about and find the correct one to check.

There's nothing in place that "prevents" you from going over 250GB... My brother-in-law did like 1TB in a month's time (running a TOR server and forgot about it)... BUT... If you go over the 250GB cap, you run the risk of getting a warning. In your warning (probationary) period, go over the cap again and you're banned for a year.

Now, is going over 250GB an automatic warning? Don't know... I've hit as high as 248GB, but always have made sure I never go over 250GB.

So yeah -- the faster speed tiers just get you to your cap more quickly -- very lame.

fyi - also there is a $99 setup fee for new non-cable customers. Just got off with rep. He would not waive it.

tried once, but the rep did not see such promotion. fyi, i am at chicago area.

I've gone over the limit several times... normally not over 300 gb and never gotten a warning letter. They state that they only warn the 'highest data users' so I imagine if your in the top % of data users for that month you may get a warning. No clue what that % is though...

In his case, I think it actually came in the form of his Internet being disabled... Upon calling, that's how he was informed. But again, that was over 1TB in a month. It used to be easy enough to check total bandwidth... unfortunately, either they moved the option or got rid of it altogether.

Aside from this direct experience, I've always heard they send you a letter warning you... I suppose it can vary from district to district as well (both on how they do it, along with whether they have a zero-tolerance policy above 250GB or give a little bit of leeway).
