UPDATE 2/25/2012 - Got another flier(cost me $15-and i only mentioned to few people so far(read update 2/21 below) for the same offer with a new Expiration date(3/18/2012), whats better is this offer has a different phone number - so try the new number if got shot down on the number from 1st flier. Both fliers are current as of today and attached on the bottom.

UPDATE 2/21/2012 - Reading through the replies - It seems that this thread has helped a lot of SD'ers to receive this(or a similarly slick) offer by either just mentioning the existence of the flier or more commonly faxing/emailing the copy of it to a Comcast rep that asks for it to verify that such a slick offer actually exists. That fact as well as the fact that my neighbors seemingly keep receiving the new versions of this flier on the regular basis(although undetermined interval) gave me an idea. I can try to offer a reward to my entire neighborhood (during a next city hall meet, email list that i can get from local DJ, or just stapling a reward note on a several streets/stores close to my house) in the sum of $15 for each new flier they bring to me - only for the offer i don't already have a flier for (usually means a new/later expiration date and some new/different internal Comcast numbers/codes on it- rest of this offer seems to stay the same(well graphics change as well sometimes)) and only an original flier in the original envelope (to eliminate Photoshoping bounty huntersSmilie. This way i can keep posting new/not yet expired (faxing/emailing expired fliers to Comcast reps will give them a good reason to deny it on the grounds of "that offer is no more") fliers here for my fellow SD'ers. Also if you get a similar flier/offer yourself (or any of your neighbors/friends/relatives do) - post it in this thread and PM me so i can put it into the first/this post(sorry not offering reward for that - but helping fellow SD'ers should be enough of a reward). What do you guys think of this plan? If i get enough reps indicating you think its a good idea - i will offer that reward to keep fliers coming!

UPDATE 2/15/2012 - New Fliers are attached on the bottom (my neighbour got the offer in mail and saved the filer for me) new Expiration is 3/4/2012
UPDATE 2 - Ran some bandwidth tests on this plan - results below

My buddy somehow got the flier for that elusive internet offer that everyone was talking about but i was unable to find anywhere else. Finally got the flier from him and scanned it(sorry about the quality i tried to make it better but my scanner is pretty old and about 5 mins past its expiration date). So far him, his GF, her brother+ his GF and my buds GF's brother's GF's sister(lol-i think i got that right) have successfully signed up by calling the number on the flier(apparently if you just call comcast - they dont know anything about this deal at all). All are in Mass except for the last one- she lives in NH. Out of all only my bud had it installed already-rest are waiting for scheduled appointments(tech to come to house)-but i dont think there will be any problem at this point.

Deal is:
$19.99 a month for 12 months(1 year) and $34.99 for months 13-24(2nd year). Only 1 year agreement(contract) is required so you can cancel right after your bill goes from $20 to $35 in month 13. Best part is - no additional service needs to be purchased(so dont need to sign up for TV or Phone). It is for new customers only(which i think means you didn't have any comcast service for at least last 3 month-not sure on this one though).

Bandwidth Tests on this plan(all ran on 2/15/2012):
Gateway = modem + router in one - (yes i know just modem is less headache but i got real good deal on it and honestly so far it worked perfect as u can see below(same results 24/7 not just offpeak/night).

I just bought new gateway(upgraded from 2 yo SBG900(Docsis2.0(1Down/1UP))) -
Motorola SBG6580 (Docsis3.0 (8channels(4 used ATM) DOWN // 4(1 used ATM) UP) [motorola.com]
FirmWare - SBG6580-3.1.0.0-GA-07-180-NOSH (Old FW(newest is 3.3.1.0 (FW can only be updated by Comcast on gateways and cable modems(thats the reason some people recommend against getting gateways and sticking with 2 separate boxes(cable modem and wire(ed/less) router)- at least FW on the router can be updated by customer then)

All tests on this gateway with this exact plan(Performance(15/3)) ran 2/15/2012:

The deals that I am seeing are only valid for a 6 month period. How does one get the 29.99 price atleast for 1 year ?

Could you post the number to call.

I am in the SF bay area.

Any luck? I am paying $45 for internet at the moment. Need a promotion for existing customers.

It seems like you can't chat with retention anymore.. Mad

I too am still waiting for a decent deal

Comcast's game plan is that the one year pricing only applies to package deals. If you want a single service, the promotional price only lasts for six months. This is not ironclad and exceptions occasionally show up

I would be surprised to see new deals before April 1st or shortly thereafter. Dont have a clue as to what to expect. Would go with $29.95 if I could get it for a year.

I had the option of a year of comcast internet (basic package 6Mb down) at 19.99/m for a year but opted for Performance( 20Mb down) at $29.99/m for a year. Since I was not getting very friendly CSRs through comcast I walked into Best Buy. I usually avoid that place like the plague. The comcast guy gave me his email and gave me a free upgrade to Blast (30 Mb down) for 3 months. If he is good on his word he will renew the upgrade whenever I email him (each three months) and each year. We will see if I remember to send him an email. But as it stands now I do not mind paying $29.99/m for Blast provided I remember to email him and he actually follows through. Time will tell.

Edit: Oh, he waived the comcast install fee of $25 bucks because I told him I had my own cablemodem.

I am in South San Jose and I bet you can find an equally up front comcast guy inside a Best Buy. Hopfully he will be like my guy and tell you right upfront what he can and cannot do. He asked me to send people his way. So if you want a similar deal and are in the southern part of the SF bay area I can send you his contact info.

Had success via online chat (Seattle). Internet 20mbs (Blast) 19.99, Digital Starter 19.99 (I'll keep my preferred addition intact) for 6 months. Also scored 12 months of free HBO after simply asking to sign up and stating my willingness to pay for it.

Bottom line:

Digital Select, Internet, DVR, HBO $74/mo before taxes for the next 6 months (12 months HBO).

Some helpful chat hints: Be polite, address the agent by name, and don't go in making demands, but just let them know you're shopping around with the competiton and really looking for a good deal.

I do chat or phone calls every six months and usually score something. I do win some and lose some, but quite happy with this little haul.

I think that tomorrow might be a propitious time to visit my local BB.

Will report back tomorrow

BTW..I have this thread forwarded to my email..I originally replied from there. Don't know if it will turn up on the list.

Generally, when I have a recurring event that occurs every 3 months, I just put it on my Google Calendar. That way, I dont have to think about it

Thanks

Who do you chat with? There is no option to choose to chat for disconnect or downgrade. Only for billing or service disruption.

Do you have any deal for your DVR?

Yes, didn't mention I am in the middle of 12 months of free DVR from a previous chat 6 months ago. So really I'm looking at $89 if not for that as well.

I chatted with "billing issues". Doesn't always work and sometimes they send you to a phone number to talk with their "marketing team" or whatever they call it.

The best thing I found to do is to go through the steps as if your were going to sign up for internet service. Towards the end you need to do an online chat to finish signing up. At that time tell them your neighbor/friend just signed up for the deal and you can't see it on the site and you would like to take advantage of it. That has worked for myself, my parents and 2 friends.

Repped you guys both.

I tried talking to the representative on chat but since I have triple play service, they said I need to call loyalty department. Mad

Nothing doing at the Tallahassee Best Buy

Comcast does not have a dedicated rep at the store. Spoke with the BB CSR who handles Comcast. He said that he could only sell what Comcast provides. The deals were identical to the stuff found on the net.

The BB I went to had a dedicated BB guy with computer access directly to Comcast.

That is more or less what I found. His computer did not show anything that wasn't already on the internet. He also pointed out that there was not commitment associated with the 6 month rates and told me that many people renegotiate their intro deals after 6 months.

I called in Salt Lake City, Utah. I only could get $19.99 for six months on no contract and then $30. Speeds are about 25Mbps/3Mbps. Better than Century Link which was $40 for 15Mbps speeds. Comcast also has the ESPN3 which is an added benefit. Thanks OP!

I have been persistently calling and chatting with different reps since yesterday morning and finally managed to get $19.99 for 6 months and $35.99 for the next six months. (No Agreement). The rep said that the price would go up to $62.99 after 12 months. But he also suggested to contact them for any promotions at that time. I will sure contact after the $19.99 expires. Been doing this for the past 2 years. Located in MD..
