UPDATE 2/25/2012 - Got another flier(cost me $15-and i only mentioned to few people so far(read update 2/21 below) for the same offer with a new Expiration date(3/18/2012), whats better is this offer has a different phone number - so try the new number if got shot down on the number from 1st flier. Both fliers are current as of today and attached on the bottom.

UPDATE 2/21/2012 - Reading through the replies - It seems that this thread has helped a lot of SD'ers to receive this(or a similarly slick) offer by either just mentioning the existence of the flier or more commonly faxing/emailing the copy of it to a Comcast rep that asks for it to verify that such a slick offer actually exists. That fact as well as the fact that my neighbors seemingly keep receiving the new versions of this flier on the regular basis(although undetermined interval) gave me an idea. I can try to offer a reward to my entire neighborhood (during a next city hall meet, email list that i can get from local DJ, or just stapling a reward note on a several streets/stores close to my house) in the sum of $15 for each new flier they bring to me - only for the offer i don't already have a flier for (usually means a new/later expiration date and some new/different internal Comcast numbers/codes on it- rest of this offer seems to stay the same(well graphics change as well sometimes)) and only an original flier in the original envelope (to eliminate Photoshoping bounty huntersSmilie. This way i can keep posting new/not yet expired (faxing/emailing expired fliers to Comcast reps will give them a good reason to deny it on the grounds of "that offer is no more") fliers here for my fellow SD'ers. Also if you get a similar flier/offer yourself (or any of your neighbors/friends/relatives do) - post it in this thread and PM me so i can put it into the first/this post(sorry not offering reward for that - but helping fellow SD'ers should be enough of a reward). What do you guys think of this plan? If i get enough reps indicating you think its a good idea - i will offer that reward to keep fliers coming!

UPDATE 2/15/2012 - New Fliers are attached on the bottom (my neighbour got the offer in mail and saved the filer for me) new Expiration is 3/4/2012
UPDATE 2 - Ran some bandwidth tests on this plan - results below

My buddy somehow got the flier for that elusive internet offer that everyone was talking about but i was unable to find anywhere else. Finally got the flier from him and scanned it(sorry about the quality i tried to make it better but my scanner is pretty old and about 5 mins past its expiration date). So far him, his GF, her brother+ his GF and my buds GF's brother's GF's sister(lol-i think i got that right) have successfully signed up by calling the number on the flier(apparently if you just call comcast - they dont know anything about this deal at all). All are in Mass except for the last one- she lives in NH. Out of all only my bud had it installed already-rest are waiting for scheduled appointments(tech to come to house)-but i dont think there will be any problem at this point.

Deal is:
$19.99 a month for 12 months(1 year) and $34.99 for months 13-24(2nd year). Only 1 year agreement(contract) is required so you can cancel right after your bill goes from $20 to $35 in month 13. Best part is - no additional service needs to be purchased(so dont need to sign up for TV or Phone). It is for new customers only(which i think means you didn't have any comcast service for at least last 3 month-not sure on this one though).

Bandwidth Tests on this plan(all ran on 2/15/2012):
Gateway = modem + router in one - (yes i know just modem is less headache but i got real good deal on it and honestly so far it worked perfect as u can see below(same results 24/7 not just offpeak/night).

I just bought new gateway(upgraded from 2 yo SBG900(Docsis2.0(1Down/1UP))) -
Motorola SBG6580 (Docsis3.0 (8channels(4 used ATM) DOWN // 4(1 used ATM) UP) [motorola.com]
FirmWare - SBG6580-3.1.0.0-GA-07-180-NOSH (Old FW(newest is 3.3.1.0 (FW can only be updated by Comcast on gateways and cable modems(thats the reason some people recommend against getting gateways and sticking with 2 separate boxes(cable modem and wire(ed/less) router)- at least FW on the router can be updated by customer then)

All tests on this gateway with this exact plan(Performance(15/3)) ran 2/15/2012:

http://www.speedtest.net/result/1775624390.png - NY Hosted by TowerStream

Use this link to get $ 29.99 for 12 months in Bay area, CA. Download Speed of 20 Mbps or 3 Mbps for $ 14.99 for 12 months and No Contract

any new flyers?
New flyer from Massachusetts exp 9/23/2012 ph 877-724-0629 (see pdf).

"I Call 877-298-0903.
I don't even need to tell them what I want. This number is specially for the $19.99/month deal. They will ask if you are looking for the deal. The first word you will say is "Yes."
I live in the Bay Area, CA.

They will force you to have a installation appointment even you don't want to/need to. And have you wait a few days and charge you $25 for it. I think I have a way to avoid the stupid installation fee and start using the internet service instantly. I think this works only if you have Comcast internet service before. And of course you will need to have your own modem.
Before doing so you have to find your comcast account ID. Try to use your info that you used to open your account, and register an online account on comcast.com. Then login to that online account. You will see your account number on the first page. Copy it down.
If you are a new customer, be sure to ask the rep [the one you're signing up with] for your account number

1. Connect your modem directly to your computer.
2. Go to any website.(I went to google.com)
3. Comcast activation page show up, enter your account number and SSN or something like that.
4. Follow the steps...
5. BAM! Service activated. You have the Internet now!
6. Call 1 800 391 3000 then press "3" and follow the steps to cancel your appointment you perviously made. (I got refuse to cancel the appointment by calling the normal 1 800 COMCAST number.

I hope this can help anyone who know what they are doing and want to save the $25 that you don't have to pay." <-- Awesome steps! Thanks go to dennis118 bounce

24 MONTH TERM CUSTOMER AGREEMENT

Thank you for choosing Comcast!

A description of the Offer ("Offer") you have ordered is described above. The Offer is subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement ("Agreement"), including the minimum term and early termination provisions under Paragraph 2 below. You may cancel this Agreement within thirty (30) days of the date services ("Service(s)") under the Offer are installed / activated, as applicable. If you wish to cancel this Agreement, you must call Comcast at 1-800-COMCAST. (Upon cancellation you are required to return all equipment provided by Comcast.)

If you do not cancel this Agreement within the 30 day period, the terms of this Agreement will automatically apply and you will be billed for the Services at the rates specified under the Offer.

For customers who install Service with a self-installation kit, the 30 day period begins on the day service is activated and for customers who have Service installed by a Comcast, installer, the 30 day period begins on the date of installation.

Terms:

1) The customer receiving this Offer named above ("you" or "Customer") will receive the Services under the Offer and for the first 24 months from the date the Service is activated / installed, at the price specified above plus applicable taxes, activation fee, and if Comcast Digital Voice is included, the Regulatory Recovery Fee and other applicable charges (e.g. per-call or International charges). AFTER THE 24 MONTH PERIOD, COMCAST'S THEN CURRENT APPLICABLE CHARGES WILL APPLY. You agree to maintain the Service for 24 months with your account in good standing. Comcast is not responsible for lost or misdirected agreements.

2) YOU AGREE THAT IF ANY SERVICE FOR THE OFFER ARE CANCELLED, DOWNGRADED OR DISCONNECTED FOR ANY REASON DURING THE 24 MONTH PERIOD (EXCEPT DURING THE FIRST 30 DAYS OF SERVICE ACTIVATION / INSTALLATION AS PROVIDED IN PARAGRAPH 3 BELOW), AN EARLY TERMINATION FEE OF UP TO $75 SHALL APPLY. DURING THE TERM OF THE AGREEMENT, THE EARLY TERMINATION FEE WILL BE REDUCED BY $7.50. EVERY THREE MONTHS, BEGINNING WITH THE SECOND MONTH AFTER THE INSTALLATION. IN ADDITION, IF SERVICE IS DOWNGRADED, COMCAST'S APPLICABLE CHARGES FOR SERVICE AND EQUIPMENT WITHOUT A 24 MONTH AGREEMENT WILL APPLY TO ANY REMAINING SERVICES. YOU ALSO AGREE THAT FOLLOWING THE 24 MONTH PERIOD, COMCAST'S APPLICABLE CHARGES FOR SERVICES AND EQUIPMENT WITHOUT A 24 MONTH TERM AGREEMENT SHALL APPLY UNLESS SERVICE IS CANCELLED BY CALLING 1-800-989-4651.

3) If during the term of this Agreement you cancel Service because you move your residence to a location within a Comcast serviceable area and you reconnect to comparable Services offered by Comcast (as determined by Comcast), within 30 days of disconnection, the amount of the early termination fee will be credited upon proof of installation. If Comcast does not offer comparable Services and you activate Comcast residential Cable, Comcast High-Speed Internet or Comcast Digital Voice service within 30 days of your Service disconnection, the amount of the early termination fee will be credited upon proof of installation. To receive the credit, you must contact Comcast by calling, 1-800-989-4651 within forty-five (45) days of Service disconnection.

4) Services under the Offer are for one outlet (except for Comcast Digital Voice.) Comcast's applicable charges for installation, equipment, and other services not specifically included in the Offer as described above (including without limitation, pay per view, and other non-recurring charges) are additional. The provisions of this Agreement supplement the general terms and conditions of the Comcast agreement for residential services for Cable Service, High- Speed Internet and Digital Voice (as amended in accordance with their terms).

5) Comcast may rearrange, delete, add to or otherwise change programming or features or offerings contained in the Services.

Again, thank you for choosing Comcast. Please call us if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Comcast Customer Service
COMCAST does HARD CREDIT PULL/INQUIRY on all customers who subscribe to TV and Internet customer. It is same as the HARD PULL done by Credit card companies.
-Can anyone confirm the Hard Inquiry? I can't believe they would be that stupid. I am buying a new home and can't afford a hard hit before the mortgage closes.
- They gave me the option of providing a $50 refundable security deposit if I wanted to opt out of a credit lookup. Seems like a good alternative for us worried about our credit score (app-o-rama, future mortgages, loans, etc)
-I can confirm this too, they do Hard Inquiry..

Comcast-XFINITY supported modems [comcast.net]

Comcast will track the number of times you call to look for a deal. I did this same offer 12 months ago and only received it on the 3rd try. Pricing was $44.95, $29.95, and then $19.99 with contract. THey even bothered to ask me why I kept calling back so may times -- I said it was because the rate got better every time and they went very quiet. Big Grin

He's right I got the "free" bump to 30mbps about two months ago. I received an email out of the blue informing me of the free speed boost.
I have never seen them charge for their speed boost, its part of their service...it doesn't mean its a continuous flow, its just an initial short boost.. .speedboost and a bump to a different mbps are 2 completely different things...

And you were right. I see a $64.95 from my billing account today. Called in and talked for 3 hours and they said there is no such thing as $19.99; and the person opened my account is 3rd party vendor so there is nothing I can do. I am calling retention center and the guy said he can lower my bill to $39.99. What a load of BS! I am calling at the end of this month to discontinue my service.
if anything, contact the 3rd party, speak to a supervisor and ask them to pull the phone call to prove you aren't lying, and if they can't do that, that you will be contacting yours and their states attorney general as you've read in several forums about baiting in switching with their company...take down names(first and last names, make sure you ask them to spell it so they know you're noting everything) ..

5X..FOLKS FOLKS FOLKS...It will take a matter of minutes to record your self on your camera making this call to comcast. This will be peace of mind and you'll be glad you did it. Make sure the phone is on speakerphone. Record your phone to show the time and date and proceed with the phone call, ask for the account or confirmation number when complete and confirm the agreement, prices and speed you're getting. Make sure your state allows the recording of the call withough the other sides intent. In Texas, you can record without letting the other person know (only one user has to know the call is being recorded).

This thread needs to be moved out of the hot deals section.

Anyway, as mentioned in my previous post, those having problems should not bother calling the regular customer service line. You will waste hours of your time. Shoot an email to we_can_help@cable.comcast.com and someone in the escalations team in your area will contact you within a day or so.

I've been a customer for over a year and my internet bill recently went back up to $60 from $44.95 (via a $20 off 12 month promotion) and I called in to see if I could lower my bill down but all they offered me was the internet (25-30mbps) + TV for $49.95. Maybe I should've just canceled my internet and opened up a new account under someone else's name like every else in this thread. I don't even watch tv.

PLEASE ADVISE

I had a call from collections recently. Never been in this situation and did not know what to do.

Actually I was an existing customer of Comcast since 2 yrs. Been paying $62.5 +Taxes since 6+ months and hence signed up as a new customer with spouse's details recently.

On one of my previous statements (existing acct), there was an extra charge of $25.xx and when not resolved with Comcast, went via Amex. I am quite not sure how CC disputed them, but was told, that Amex took the money back from Comcast onto my CC.

And these charges were from almost July 2012. Infact I was promised the $19.99 for 1 yr and since I believed, I did not bother to check my statements and also scheduled auto pay. Only recently (in Jan 2013), when tying to see what options do they have for existing customers, did I notice that they have been charging full price of $62.50 since past 6 months. And upon bringing that to there attention, they did not refund and said that they do not have any record on my acct with that info and that they would not honor. So the dispute for those 6 months did not work as I did not have any poof either. Whay proof can one have when done on phone? Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)

And the $25.xx dispute was for July 2012 (which I noticed in Jan 2013 too, when trying to see options), where instead of charging $19.99, they charged $45+ (extra 25 bucks)

So, long story short, Comcast instead of refusing to refund to Amex or call me to talk, or send any form of communication approached Collections and they r calling me regularly and asking me to pay.

Upon a quick chat with one of the supervisors at Comcast, agreed to put a credit of $25.xx on my acct so as to counteract the collection charges.

When I called to inform collections this, that person would not want to listen to me. He says that even if Comcast waives, since it is in collections, I have to pay to them at any cost and that I could defer (guess that's what he said)in 20-30 days in my State for free, but did not provide me with any other details as to whom should I approach in this regard.

He does not want to call Comcast to see what recent changes took place on my acct OR want to hear my side of story either. He was rude in his behaviour and said he gets 100+ cases of this sort and he knows what he is doing and hung up the phone on me. OMG

Sorry for detailed explanation.

Want to get some inputs from people in same situation and how to get this resolved. Also not sure how to defer (or what ever it is).

And above all, I don't want to get my CREDIT HISTORY HAMPERED in any way. I have never been in this situation ever and for all of my payments I have a autopay feature, so as to pay on time and with this stunt of Comcast I having a terrible time.

Please advice. wave Confusedlook around

TIA

My friend was in a similar situation as yours. Since he only had limited basic comcast standard def tv, and was only really watching local channels, I told him to buy an over the air antenna for $30 at Best Buy, and he now gets all local channels in HD for free. Then he cancelled his Comcast double play service, paid his last bill, and returned the TV receiver (he owns his own cable modem). And one day later called the 0903 number and got the Economy Internet deal for $14.99 a month for 12 months (Performance was $29.99 for 12 months, but sometimes a rep offers $19.99 a month for 12 months if you're lucky). They don't even care if you you've been a recent subscriber. He was even able to waive the activation fee of $15 because all he needed to activate service was the new account number, and the phone number linked to that account. Plus I hear that Comcast will soon boost Economy speeds from 3Mb download speeds to 5Mb. Just make sure to chat with a rep online after you get your new service and verify the promo, and keep the transcript for insurance.

It goes without saying..."Never give your credit card to Comcast!" Once they have your card on file, they will eventually cheat you out of your money! It's okay to make a one time payment every month, since this does not put your credit card on their autopay file system. As far as getting the money they stole from you, I would suggest going to their online chat help, they are usually more understanding. Or if you make a phone call, make sure it is the retentions department, which is when you want to "cancel service," as they try their best to keep you on as a customer by ameliorating your problems. Tell them you have transcripts and records of this whole ordeal, and to notify collections of their error! If you get a rep either on the phone or online chat that does not help you, call back later and chat with another rep. It is often up to each reps discretion whether to help or to hinder you. As a last resort, you might even mention to them that you're going to take this problem to a consumer watch organization like the better business bureau, or to your local congressman/congresswoman, and how bad the public relations would be for them if that were to happen. You might also try your local library for free law advice concerning collections. Good luck.

Check your bills. It will tell you how long your promotion will last.
I got the bill and there is a discount but no discount code or time period. I had cancelled my onsite technician but they charged me for it anyway. So I called to get it resolve but the automated system inform me that I had a credit.

No point in questioning a good thing...woot

I did all LoL

1. online chat for few minutes, and they submitted my problem to escalated department. Got a call back 2 days later but I didn't picked up.
2. I called back the next day. After 1-2 hours of being transferred and everyone telling me that there is no such deal, I got pissed off and tell them to transfer me to retention center to see if those guys can help. The guy laughed and said its impossible to get under $39.99 and made a movie reference joke out of it haha So I told him to cancel by end of billing period but he said I have to call back then.
3. After I hung up the phone, I emailed and tell them to pull then phone conversation when I signed up for comcast and take action asap. One day later, I got a call from their account exec, and she said she will look for the best deal she can then she gave me her extension #. She actually tried very hard haha She called me a couple of time over the past 2 days just to update that she still couldn't find such deal. Then I got a call from her today, and she told me that she submitted the problem to her manager and it got approved. Then she applied all the credits to my comcast account. Now, I have $200+ in my account which means I dont have to pay bills for next 3 months LoL

As far as I know, if you call the 0903 number, they'll offer you the Economy Plus tier of 3Mb download speeds for $14.99 for 12 months. If you want the Performance tier at 25Mb download speeds, the price and term varies from $29.99 for 12 months, $19.99 for 12 months, or $19.99 for six months, then $34.99 for months 7-12. It all depends on which customer rep you get. Some are better than others.

It is so true that the offer you receive depending on the rep you get. Unfortunately, the offer you receive is not always the offer that you get. I don't know how they can do that when the phone conversation is supposedly recorded.
