email "virus"
So last night I got an undeliverable notice... All I did was open the email, didn't click on any link or anything as there wasn't one. The email address listed was one I knew, but I know I didn't send him an email at the time that was listed and nothing was in my sent folder... My mom emailed me and said she got an email from me with an odd website...Again, I looked in my sent box and I didn't see that I sent her anything. Of course, the email was sent shortly after opening the undeliverable email. I'm using yahoo mail.. Any suggestions? Would a change in password solve the issue? Thanks.

I'd change your yahoo pw just in case... What happens to those emails that people send to all their friends warning them about doom and gloom or what some lawyer said in an email...and they put everyone's email address in the To" box...well sooner or later someone "Harvests" those emails and then sends spam to everyone pretending to be "you" so folks will open them. It doesn't show that you sent it in your yahoo mail sent box does it...but yet in Mom's email inbox it says it's from you? If you are both on yahoo mail...in the letter from "you" expand the header info on the email...and see where it really came from. Also send a test message from your email account to mom's and check that header info...I bet they don't match up at all. |

YahooMailMobile while the other had YahooMailNeo in the message id... the one with the yahoomailmobile was the "virus" |

It happened again, but now from my aol account.. any ideas? Also, unlike when it happened from my yahoo account, the email is now in my sent folder in my aol account. I haven't logged into the aol account in a long time.. I just want to know if there's a virus scan or something I can do or how this is happening.. I don't click on any links in my emails...

Maybe if you had some good anti-virus software installed on your computer, you may not have some of this problem! |
