Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II Android $586

No warranty!??

So if this thing craps out for no reason, you're SOL?

Personally, I purchased my Nexus One from Google direct when it first launch almost 2 years ago, i understand the benefit of being un-contracted.

AT&T, Tmobile, and Sprint will have this model for less than $200 with 2-years contract starting a week later, why still paying ~$600 (after taxed) for this unlocked model? If you want to run with 4G speed, you need one of those carriers anyway... and no warranty?! I would rather get one from AT&T with warranty..

I would agree with the warranty issue, but for me i think t-mobile's version looks awful. (and I don't want to switch to AT&T ) I like the original design much better, so I might just jump on this.

Why? If you can provide a link to explain your statement that would be great. I've read a LOT of conflicting reports on both 4G availability and if AT&T is going to force an unlocked SGSII to require a smart phone plan.

As for warranty.. would not a SquareTrade Warranty suffice?

You think not having a warranty is bad? How about having just a one year warranty? I believe in the EU there's a two-year MINIMUM on most electronics sold in the EU.

I'm upset here in the States we get shafted. It's a shame a lot of people here are just ignorant(that's not a bad thing, just a fact) of how other countries have it so much better in some situations.

Unfortunately when were talking US carriers and "4G" if they meet the "new lower" acceptable standards...they get to call it 4G.

All we can hope is the sheep consumers in the US one day wake up and demand the truth. Will be the same day they realize Apple ecosystem is shit and not worth it!

I suspect prices will drop fairly soon, the cell phone market is way too competitive for this phone to remain @ this price for longer than a month, tops.

what if i just want to pay more for this without any contract and not use the cell service (at least not right away). i presume i can use all the other features unhindred, without any monthly fees? in other words, i could use this device to play mp3's, videos, jpeg pictures, and i assume i could use wi-fi hotspots for internet, and it would work in my home with my wireless router, and i could snap pictures and take home videos with it? i don't have to activate a service to use any of these features, right? just to make telephone calls?

Get your facts right, it's been out for over 5 months. When it first came out, prices were over $800. This won't drop below $400-500 anytime soon this year.

This is the lowest I have seen it. It was $600+ for the past 3 months. This has no warranty because it is not sold in the US, warranty exist in Europe. Each US carrier has their own flavor of this phone.

I'm still researching what the differences are between the original and US models. If you guys remember when the first Galaxy S came out, all the US carriers gimped it by removing the front facing camera as well as some other bits n pieces. I hope there isn't a repeat of that. That being said, if you can plunk down the $$$, this is the best android phone you can buy. That and the merit of being contract free.
