stupid app. microsoft should fully test this before release to public. The app is confusing and never work straight out of box.

What the heck is "did you install this application on another computer?", click yes and no does not really explain anything clear. Until you play around with either Yes or No so you can get the security code instead of the box to enter the security code. Then comes the missing "computer" word on the suppose-to-be the computer's name you want to control. What the heck is "other's"?

And after all the security and computer name steps, you are stuck with "timing out" and can't connect even you are in the same network, network name, and disable all firewall.

Failed.

Awesome app, replaced my kvm. Works great on windows 2003 server and windows 2008 server!

Setup is not dummy proof but intuitive enough without the need to consult any documentation for me Smilie

Does Synergy or Input Director allow only sharing of mouse/keyboard? or can they share monitors?
No, it's for input sharing. If you're talking about two computers using one monitor, most monitors have multiple inputs that you can toggle through. Is that what you meant?

Sort of. I meant more like a KVM, but via the network ..more like Remote Desktop ..granted video would be a bandwidth hog. The MS Garage is probably something I will use - I have 2 full computers sitting right next to each other and it would allow 1 mouse/keyboard to be "put away", thereby clearing up desk space and making typing and mousing easier.

But, getting rid of the monitor and just adding more computer boxes, as needed, could be useful.

Gosh I now use this all the time and wonder how I get along without.

I had been juggling two keyboards/mice when switching between my couch computer and my HTPC on my TV.

My only wish: I often loose the mouse for a second when switching between my various screens. I wish there was was some sort of speed bump or feedback when going between screens. It would be great if it was tactile but I don't think any mice support vibration. Graphical would be OK, or maybe I just need to make my mouse larger (MCE's 2005's blinking mouse does not help things! Does this get better in win 7?)

Thanks OP!

The drag and drop of files is pretty amazing/useful too.

Totally agree. Love this little tool. I keep on telling a friend to install it, and they keep on pushing it off - can't force a good thing I guess.

OK, I installed MWB on my wife's XP machine first, then on another XP machine, then on my Vista Notebook and then on Win7 Pro64. On the second XP machine, it doesn't show up at all (even after clicking on the icon link in the start menu.) On the Vista machine, I can see only my wife's XP. From the Win7 computer, I can only see my wife's XP machine.
My main reason for installing this is to share a downloaded file with all 4 machines, but so far it doesn't appear that I can do that. Any thoughts? Once this is set up correctly, does the original computer have to be booted or can the other computers still share a file?
Thanks

Referring to my message above: On the Win7 machine, MWB showed only the notebook and the Win7 machine, but when I typed in my wife's computer name in the third box, it showed that connection as well. Curious!
One other bit of information, all but the notebook are wired. Still do not know why the program does not start on my other XP machine, even after clicking the start menu icon.
