hopped on this sub deal a couple weeks back for the same price, comes out to ~$375 shipped/tax. it's gone on sale for this price like 2-3 times in the past 6 months i think. as it is paired with my old receiver at hte moment, i'm pretty satisfied with it for now but won't give my final judgement until it is paired with my pioneer elite vsx-30 (coming in today) and paradigm mini monitors (coming in next week). hoping this sub isn't too BOOMY when paired with the rest of the system.

![]() It was a pain to get this thing to blend in with my RF-75's. I had to lower the crossover to the bottom (40hz?) and turn it down to get rid of the boomy-ness in my computer room. Amps are dual Emotiva BPA-1s so with the efficient speakers, and plenty of power, I was surprised I had to turn the sub down so much. The thing's got too much power for a small 10x15 room with it about 2 feet out from a corner. So far so good on SQ though. Not as nice as a non-ported box (for music), but it gets the job done well. |

How does the bookshelf speaker sound? Thinking of getting them instead of a logitech 5.1 for computer speakers!

Wow, that's a big sub. You definitely need a large room to take advantage of the waves this will produce. I've always liked the Reference series. Klipsch does a nice job with the series. Once you get the bug for a great sub and that deep HT bass, you'll never go back. Here's what I have in my living room. It's amazing to "feel" bass frequencies but not hear them. Few subs do this.
