There's a new CVS opening near my work!! I am a huge Rite Aid shopper and am sometimes jealous when seeing some CVS posts. I only work Friday and Saturday and it's an hour from my house so I hope stock will not be an issue if I don't go until Friday.

Do they have any special sales for a grand opening?
I am not sure when they are opening but I can't wait. Any Advise? I have been reading everything I can on the deals. I think I understand everything but any extra tips would be appreciated.

Yes, there are grand opening sales. Usually you get in your mail or local papers some decent coupons too. I suggest getting a green bag tag to use instead of their bags. ( a recycled green bag works great). Tags usually sell for $ .99. ( any bag will work). Also get an extracare card and use it every time. Organize your coupons. It is so worth the time invested in finding the deals. Yes, read all the info here to help you! welcome to CVs world!
Scan your card every time in the store until is says something like No more coupons available. Don't just stop after the first scan at the red machine!

I have over $30,000 in Savings this year alone and only received $0.50 in Quartely ECB. Guess I didn't spend enough, lol.
High Five I don't purchase in volumes nearly as high, but if I believe in CVS's receipt tallies, I've racked up about $50,000 in savings over 4 years of CVSing, and I've never received a quarterly reward in my life. laugh out loud (I've never filled a prescription either though.) I got really close once due to diabetes meters, but then at the very end of the quarter, I redeemed for some gas cards that brought my quarterly tally back down to 0. Doh

I got $4, $1 and $1.50. I guess it is all those baby forluma tubs (even at $9-7 per tub it piles up when you buy 20 or so laugh out loud , diapers and scripts)...

Congratulations on the new CVS! There is one near my duaghters' apt......none here. I usually get there on Saturday mornings but by some miracle there is almost always still plenty on the shelves. It is in a college town, surrounded by dorms and apts so this may have something to do with the excellent availability.
CVS is the easiest of the drug stores for me. They do have limits on most of the ECB deals but they are reasonable for a personal-use shopper. You can stack their Red Box Qs with MQs and $1 for every 4 times you use your green bag tag.
If you can navigate RA, CVS will be like candy for you!

Thanks for the welcome! Good to know that CVS will be like candy then. I continually roll about $50-100 +UPs at RA. This is also a huge college town. If my store is out of a sale item the RA in this town will usually still have it in stock so I'm hopeful that stock won't be an issue. I can't wait for the magic red machine I have heard a lot about.

I see a lot of kids in CVS but rarely even see them use the red machine There is a CVS and Wags within a couple of blocks of the campus and my girls place.....both well stocked. Most college kids must not be Q shoppers.....mine aren't despite my best efforts.

Oh, how I wish I'd found the D/S forum back in my college days. I was a daily reader of the Freebies and Hot Deals threads. And to think there was a CVS almost right across from my dorm........ Oh well, I guess my tiny shoebox dorm room couldn't hold all those pads and shampoo bottles anyway Big Grin

Haha, most of my stockpile is at home with my parents, but when I visit every 2-3 weeks I make sure to grab anything I might need. I'm from a small town with a single CVS as a drugstore, but where I go to college 2.5 hours away I have 2 CVS, 3 Walgreens, a Rite Aid, AND a target!

OMG, you could make a bundle selling to the kids in the dorms, I'm sure they would love to pay a buck or 2 for all the stuff we get for free. I have yardsales and have a bunch of people stock up on stuff for their kids to take back to college with them!

I've had a couple of yardsales and I have totally thought of how I could've set up my own little store back then. Heck, one of the girls down the hall used to have a bakesale every so often. I think she'd bring back goodies from her mom and sold them at $2 a pop. Of course, back then that seemed like an excellent deal EEK!

To those who had savings in thousands but little to nil in quarterly ECBs, I am curious how much $ was spent buying CVS coupons from eBay? Smilie

For me, 0. Wink Never paid for a coupon in my life (not even a newspaper)...I get 1 set of RP and P&G in the weekly junk mail, and I get 1 set of SS in the freebie delivery newspaper. Have access to print IPs from 3 computers. It's enough for me and plenty easy to get to $10K savings at CVS alone each year working with such limited coupons. It means I have to skip out on most of the bigger deals (e.g., I rarely do buy $30 get $10 deals because I just don't have enough coupons to get to $30), but hey, I hate working with large EBs anyway. Wink Not sure what I'll do if/when I move to a region that doesn't mail out free inserts and doesn't have free newspapers though...I'm just so against the idea of buying coupons that I doubt I'd even be able to talk myself into ever buying a newspaper. Crazy
