Feel free to discuss complaints, shopping trips, etc.......CVS related and off topic too! I'm hoping this will unclog the weekly threads a bit. Smilie

Sorry if this has been asked but I've read back a few pages and didn't see it.

I'm finishing up my buy 50 get 15 p&g rebate and was planning on including the new cg nail polish from the p&g q. The nail polish upc is only 7 digits, not 12 unless I'm missing a longer upc somewhere on the package. After seeing a lot of refusals from p&g, I picture this being an issue having the shorter upc on the form even though it is the way the product was made. Anyone else using the nail polish on the rebate? expecting and problems?
I haven't used nailpolish specifically, but I have sent in P&G rebates with short-barcode items in the past and have had no issues. If that's the barcode on the product, then that's the barcode on the product.

Thought I'd bring the posting discussion here. It's discouraging for someone to create a thread posting a deal and see it reposted elsewhere on SD without credit to the OP. That's why duplicate deal threads get merged by the mods. I don't see any difference when a deal gets reposted into an individual thread that the OP, whether in HD, Freebies, or DS shouldn't be credited. Or, that people should not be dissuaded from reposting deals as their own within a weekly thread.

And, it's not just about credit to the OP. That original thread might have valuable information regarding the deal that doesn't need to get repeated in the weekly thread. The weekly store threads just seem to be getting longer and longer, and harder to find the deals.

SD is a big place. I fully expect folks to search a forum before posting a new deal, but to search the entire site? No way. Pixie posted appropriately, and she didn't even get her original info from the HD thread. I wouldn't expect anyone to search HD before posting a drugstore deal, since all DS deals are supposed to be moved to the DS forum anyways. Why the mods won't do it until folks start repeatedly mod alerting is beyond me, but they don't...SD does a poor job of making sure DS deals are in the right place.

I rarely check anything outside of SD...no mommy blogs or RSS feeds or other forums. I had not heard one word about that Q until Pixie posted it. She put it where it was supposed to be, and I thank her for that.

Weekly threads are so long and cumbersome because folks like to jump over other folks for things that aren't related to the deals themselves. Maybe like talk about credit for someone that posted something I never saw? Stick Out Tongue

I agree with you that the OP should've received credit but Pixie deserved some kudos as well. I also would've never seen it had it not been for her post. In fact, I saw it while doing my AM reading and immediately printed before heading to work. Had it not been posted in the DS forum, I would've had to wait until I read my RSS feed or I finished reading all my DS threads and then headed to HD. I would bet that's how most DS'ers do it as well - HD comes last.

The free vitamin water Q was posted yesterday in Hot Deals. We printed all we will need last night. The coupon link was re-posted in this thread this morning, without any link or reference to the HD thread. Facepalm

Moreover, I think that the whole conversation would've been quickly finished had the link to the original OP been in your original post. A friendly reminder "Hey, how about we also rep the OP in HD" or something of the sort would've been just as helpful and gotten proper credit to the OP, which I believe was your bottom line.

In the end, rep points are nothing more than a thank you - not an obligation or a right.

Rep points are a way of saying thank you, gain a rank and maybe get recognition. There's no tangible value for reps and never will be. However, it is a metric that can be used to determine how helpful the user is to the community. Thusly, to keep the reputation points meaningful, we have general guidelines on how how reps should be handed out. The premise is, if it is used as a form of "thank you" for a user who did something helpful to the community, it's ok.

Huh

The Wags threads are shorter than they've ever been since they went to this points system. And the deals are harder to find because .... well .... there aren't as many. Frown

I have posted several things in the DS forum over the years that also ended up in HD, but had they not been posted here, a LOT of folks would never have seen it.

Besides, most HD people think us couponers are Crazy. They call us "soccer moms with scissors".

We could discuss the register issues at Wags and fill a few threads. It has gone beyond ridiculous and there's no sense to it. I thought it was certain RR's, but you can use the same combo and get different results, but you're right it's difficult to wade through for the deals, but I'm guilty of the "discussion", so I should smack myself. It is part of every transaction though, so I think that's why so much ends up in the weeklies.

The RA thread turned into the A&H, Axe, Simplfy thread and CVS dominated on the how the % coupons were acting, so I guess most of the posts are centering around the registers at all 3 of the stores, which is pretty pathetic, but it's reality.

I am glad you posted this about the Wags deals; I just didn't have the energy or drive to continue with Wags deals with the change. For me, CVS, RA, Target are all more challenging to complete great deals.

I think many of us have had first posts and then someone posts the same thing and get tons of reps. I remember posting in the Wags thread (trying to be discreet) about the Glade peelie for a free glade plug- in and someone posted in HD a day later. Peelies were ravaged from packages LMAO just the way it works sometimes.

HELP!!!

I frickin' broke the register at CVS. I am so upset and completely bummed. I had my 20% ES from last week that expired today. Went to my best stocked store and did a ton of ECB deals. Of course I had 4/20s as well. My total was like $450 (included $25 iTunes card).
For once in my life all my coupons scanned thru BEAUTIFULLY...she only had to input the iTunes CRT in manually and 1 expired CRT. Lumene, Colgate, Rembrandt, Vitamin water, $25 toys deal, Axe gift set, Loreal, Covergirl, Almay, Gillette, Playtex, Verio and other misc stuff...etc. My 20% took off $64 (I must have had a few sale items in there). It was only $5 less than what I expected it to take off. Awesome.
We were down to the last 2 coupons (Verio) and I could no longer see on my little box what was coming off, i figured I had exceeded max lines on that little machine (should have been my first warning). My total was down to $95. I paid with $68 in ECBs, used $25 on a prepaid Visa, and scanned my debit card for the remaining $2.38.

That is when all HELL broke lose. I think if sparks could have come out of the machine it would have.

It sat their processing my debit card for a few long seconds and then the POS had some sort of terminal error. It just crashed. loaded up a bunch of errors on the screen and said something like "Suresave needs POS (haha) software, there is no POS software loaded, you must restart the system blah blah blah" I had an awful awful awful sinking feeling. My cashier had been there 36 years (yes indeed!) and had never seen that before. The shift supervisor came over (9 years) and had never seen that before. After a few phone calls, she made contact with the "fix-it line" or something. They told her I had too many scans and needed to do smaller transactions. They also said that system was down completely and would need a tech to come out and fix it. (WHAT??? No reboot?)

I was hoping against all hopes that it would have just done a total void and all would be good (except losing my 4/20s) so after standing there for 2 hours (yes you read that right)...I purchased a soda and candy on another register to see if my ECBs would work. Oh, big surprise...Not Valid for this Card. That crappy manager wouldn't even take m $3.99 ECB for that soda purchase because it said invalid and she new perfectly well it was valid prior to this debacle!!

So, now I have $70 in ECBS that are invalid and the manager was like. "Nothing I can do, you have to call 1-800". Then she told me CS told her while she was on the phone that she can only accept 1 -4/20 per customer/per day. Prior to this, there had never been any problems accepting them as long as they scan. Then because we were going on 2.5 hrs and 9:15pm and I had my 12 year old with me (poor kid!) I asked if she would honor the 20% off if I came back tomorrow because I was going to have to re-work some things and it would have taken me till 10pm at least to re-ring everything in smaller transactions. She said, NO, she would not accept it after tonight. You have got to be kidding me. I paid for my soda with a gift card and left my cart of crap and 2.5hrs of my life at the store.

I am so upset....so, I am out 4/20s...big deal. I am sure CS will re-issue me another 20%. But there are 2 HUGE concerns I have that may cost me dearly.....

1) My $25 prepaid card: it scanned and deducted $25. I am out that money??? Or because technically the transaction didn't complete will it not go thru?

2) Will CS even be able to see this messed up transaction under my card number?? I have no receipt. Nothing. no evidence that my transaction was messed up other than the managers word. Can they see a transaction that was crashed so i can get my ECBs back?

And finally, WTH is the scan limit on these POS?!?! And is that total scans (items, coupons, ECBs, etc) or just coupon tally??

What a waste of 3 hours of my life...

ETA: Just checked my prepaid card balance and it said the $25 is pending so hopefully it will just drop off since it won't get completed by the merchant.

That totally sucks. Sorry.

First off this does happen from time to time, no idea what it is that officially causes it, but with small items the few times I've gotten there it's around $400-600 depending on how many items(it's not based on price but on items).

Second you should never have a giftcard in an order you are using ECB's on since they are not to be used on them. I know you had other items and technically paid over $25 in actual money but if there was a problem corporate can point to this as the 'reason' it broke.

Third...complain about that manager. If the coupons worked and are now voided because of HIS system, HE should honor them. A good manager should know when to step up and say sorry, don't know what happened but let me make this better for you.

I*snip*...
The $4/$20's are toast, as most know that once they're scanned they won't scan again, but a reasonable store would manually input them.

I would guess if your ecb's came up invalid that your transaction was completed or they would scan again, so I'd make sure you weren't charged for the $25 or if you took the i-tunes card with you that it is activated.

It probably wasn't a good idea to put a gc in that large of a transaction, as CVS has zero tolerance for gc's when used with ecb's. It's best to do gc's on their own, as previously mentioned.

I'm tiring of register glitches because although you should have checked out the gc on its own, the registers should be able to handle it. Sorry you had that experience. I'm tiring of standing at counters and I haven't even crashed a CVS register. So far, I have had the best luck with easy check-outs at CVS. RA's beepers/non-scanners and Wags random pop-outs are more than a tad annoying.

When I was doing the f&f coupons, I kept the transactions around $200 and generally only used the 30% and 2 to 3 $4/$20's. I thought about adding the 20% medicare, but always talked myself out of it. I have a decent amount, for me, of ecb's, so staying status quo on Extra Bucks is fine by me, at the moment. I did use the Verio to get some stuff I needed/wanted, but didn't go crazy. I had a store that wanted to argue whether the $40 was really a CVS Q and that wasn't any fun either, but they eventually punched it in, minus .01, and I was on my way.

CS should re-issue your EB's or call the SM and have them honored, I would hope.
