for ideas, you should bookmark sites like groupon (orange county), living social, etc.. and see what kind of deals come up for food and/or places to go. those sites are designed to make people try places by offering a nice discount.

The Irvine Improve. Chomps rockin sushi in Fullerton. Look for a local show at the Honda Center, House of Blues, Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, the Grove, the Coach House. Go to an Angel's game. Flight Deck (Anaheim). Boomers. Catch an athletic game of some sort at UCI.
