Do long distance relationships even stand a chance? My friends give me the typical, "oh, well if you want it to work out, it can work". My past proves that isn't true. So I figured I'd see what the lounge's take is. Anybody have any successful long distance relationships to tell about? And by successful, I suppose I mean it didn't end by someone cheating or someone losing patience and just saying "this isn't working"... basically either it ran its course or one of you moved to be with the other. If you're boobs aren't within a one hour drive, you're more screwed than you'll ever know. It's a fact. End it. The constitutions of most of our States and of the United States assert, that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves, in all cases to which they think themselves competent, or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of the press. -Thomas Jefferson, June 5, 1824

I dont think so if they start out as a long distance relationship.
Normal relationship to temporary long distance can work. But why would you? Why not find fish in your sea? Edit: I started dating my GF when we were in HS, she is one year older. She went to a college states away to play lacrosse. A year later she transferred to a better school for lacrosse closer to me. We are still together, 3 years out of college. Imagine if I had to console, the family of those slayed, I slain on game consoles...

My husband and I survived a year and a half of distance. Though we'd been dating for a year and a half already. He left to start his training and preparation for his unit's deployment to Iraq. They were there I think about five months, and then got a week-long leave at Christmas before being deployed. That's when he proposed. Then he left, and spent a year in Iraq.
We made it work. But our circumstances were different than yours. Personally, I thought it was easy to wait. But my husband told me of a couple guys who found out their wives were cheating on them back in the states. And he told me of another one where she said she wanted to get divorced because "she couldn't handle it." So I think a lot of factors go into it other than just the distance. And you guys live in the same state. I'm guessing you'll at least be able to visit each other regularly. But if you're not even together yet, I'm wondering why you're considering this? |
