Standard advice around here is to check out Tirerack.com, America's Tire Store/ Discount Tire, Sam's Club, or Costco... but you usually end up with higher end tires at those places. Since your car is 10-11 years old, you probably don't want to do that. I would still check out Sam's club or Costco (if you are a member) to see what they are charging for there cheaper tires for your car. Alternatively, if your car is high mileage, I would check out tire shops in the rougher parts of your town. Maybe even consider getting a pair of re-treads.

Yep, I have gotten some used tires from some shops on the east side of my town. They were usually mexican fellas who owned the shops and charged about $20 a tire with decent tread left. Of course, you always run the risk of getting some pretty old tires that aren't in the best shape but I was able to pick them out myself so I got some decent ones and of course these aren't balanced, just mounted and you leave.
