Legalzoom for a will

So I have no comment on WIllMaker as I've never used it myself. I do have a comment about using a service like LegalZoom over going to an attorney.

While I never personally use LegalZoom for anything, I do know several people that have. I've always personally gone to an attorney for various things relating to my business. That said, 100% of every person I've ever met that have used LegalZoom to set up their business have royally screwed it up in one way or another. I can't say for certain but I suspect that those that haven't had issues don't know they exist.

The problem with setting up a business is its not as simple as registering the business. As a matter of fact, you could do this easily without LegalZoom or an attorney of any kind. The devil is in the details. So, without knowing anything else, if their Will services is anything like their business services, I would avoid them at all cost.

Having said that, I have a strong personal preference to working with an attorney directly but I can understand the hesitation due to cost for others. However keep in mind that saving a lot of money won't fix problems that may arise due to a poor setup. And I'm not saying WillMaker is flawed in anyway, I don't have grounds to judge it, nor am I. Just pointing out a simple fact that money should not be a consideration for doing something as important as a Will correctly (personal opinion).

Having said all that, IF WillMaker does in fact work flawlessly (you'll have to Google or find info by some other means of people who have dealt with this after a family member pass and not just someone who have had experience using the software), then great. Also it probably won't hurt to jump on a quick call with some attorneys for a brief free chat (some will do it for quick advice) on their thoughts about the software, or at the very least some other things you might have on your mind. In my experience, not every attorney is there to charge you. Some are genuinely good and will send you to someone else even if they don't make a dime to help you out. Call around and ask, it wouldn't hurt either way.
