I don't trust the Taiwanese. There's bound to be a few people in their military who would love nothing more than to get their hands on our advanced radars so they can sell them to China for $$$$.

so now all these jobs that Obama says he "thinks about the first thing every morning and last thing before he goes to sleep" will go to France, Russia, Germany, or wherever else the Taiwanese decide to go to buy their stuff, instead of being created here at home.

I realize that right-wing jihadist rhetoric often renders its acolytes incapable of listening to reason, but I'll explain the issue for the benefit of those individuals anyway:

1. We sell weapons to the world. True. But we don't sell everything to just plain anyone. There are some technologies that are so new and state of the art that we won't sell them to anyone at all. There are other technologies that we sell to our closest allies, and our least advanced technologies are available to our allies who aren't exactly trustworthy.

2. We are, in fact, selling jets to Taiwan. Just not our newest and best. Why?

Given that the tech we sell to Taiwan has a high likelihood of finding its way into Chinese hands, I would be outraged if Obama allowed the advanced technology to be sold in the first place.

I doubt this was a partisan decision, it was surely driven by career people at Defense or State, over concerns of espionage.
