ASUS K53TA-BBR6 vs K53E-BBR9
Sorry in advance if this is an inappropriate thread topic. I'm looking for a laptop for school. It will mainly be used for programming and internet browsing, but I also enjoy video games so I'm taking that into account as well. That said, I'm a poor college student so value trumps everything. I've only been on the market for a few days so I've really only come across two that I'm considering pulling the trigger on. They are the: ASUS - Laptop / AMD A-Series Processor / 15.6" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Brown Suit http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ASUS+...8360613837 and the ASUS - Laptop / Intel® Core™ i5 Processor / 15.6" Display / 4GB Memory / 500GB Hard Drive - Brown Suit http://www.bestbuy.com/site/ASUS+...8362797990 I'm trying to determine which is better in terms of value, since they seem to be fairly the same in most other aspects. I'm also trying to decide if either is really worth it or if I should just wait until something better comes along. This will be my first laptop. Any suggestions? |

This thread is old and outdated now, but to set the record straight about AMD A6/A8 VS INTEL 2nd gen i5 DEBATE:
both laptops are great depending on the user: **If you are serious and use it for work only and rarely any play--then go Asus k53e-bbr9 for the faster CPU to do all work related software even more zippier. **If you are a student or a child in school who has a little time to play video games/ PC games after finishing their work, then get the Asus k53TA-bbr6. PC games play extremely well on this "basic priced" laptop compared to standard priced/bottom of the line laptops many years ago. So both laptops are a win win for each type of person. Both laptops can be used for work almost the same, so I'd personally go AMD route. But for games the Intel with integrated graphics will be very far behind in performance. For the AMD laptop, the battery can last up to 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Maybe the Intel can run slightlier longer--maybe 4 1/2 hours (but not sure really). AMD can be underclocked & undervolted significantly to provide similar 4 1/2 hours also. But more practically it will give you 3 1/2 to 4. so very close in performance. And both laptops run very cool compared to older laptops many years ago!! Last edited by atoneapone; 02-24-2012 at 10:38 AM.. |
