Great price, great item especially if you use the vacuum containers a lot (like we do). Having a small device handy to reseal them is much, much better than having to leave the full sized food saver machine out all the time.

I picked up the handheld FreshSaver [foodsaver.com], which looks like it has the same sealing mechanism as this unit. I use the ziploc branded zipper bags with that one. I also have a Rival Vacuum Sealer that I picked up for $25 from NewEgg (can use FoodSaver rolls or pre-fabbed bags).

I believe that the zipper bags are more expensive per unit than the rolls. In addition, with the rolls you can cut them to fit, so you waste less with a roll if, say, all you had were the gallon-size zipper bags and your food didn't need that extra space. Both are generally reusable if you didn't have meat in them (my personal rule). I've also found that the zipper bags seem to leak air more easily, but for most applications it's fine. This unit looks like it's compatible with the vacuum containers that FoodSaver sells, so it might be handy to have around if you decide to go that route.
