Normally Tom's recommends an upgrade only if it moves you at least three tiers higher.
For those with even the latest integrated Intel graphics they can rest assured that this is the case.

In addition, as a member of the 5xx series that this card carries all of the latest features associated with Nvidia's retail cards (e.g. - 3D Bluray support).

At the same time, this card is typically bad labeling in regards to truth in numbers: it actually performs two tiers lower than the older GT220.

If you need a powerful low-profile card and don't need support for some more advanced features (especially all Bluray audio formats over HDMI), then the 4670 remains the best buy on the site (same price before rebate, $29.99 AR).

If you'd like an inexpensive upgrade which has support for all the HTPC checklist items, and don't mind a fan, then this could be a safe upgrade for you.
