OP is back! See WIKI for relevant information.

Short: NEW Activations only.
Buy sim card + activation kit/code (required).
Activate online at t-mobile.com, choose $30 plan. Done.

Any unlocked GSM phone will work. Maybe others, YMMV. NO SPRINT/VERIZON (unless they are unlocked and accept SIM cards... typically "world phones"). Also no Blackberry.

I ported out of page plus and it took forever. Make sure they have your account number (which is your telephone number) and your pin number. They also need to verify your address. You have to keep following up because t-mobile doesnt do it and page plus doesnt like to release numbers.
How long is forever? 1-2 weeks? So let me make sure i have this correct, first i activate T-Mobile SIM, call T-Mobile and let them know i want to port a number over, then call page plus and request the port. Done and wait?

I've been using this plan with my Samsung S 4G since they announced it. Yesterday I dropped the phone and the screen cracked. I'm looking for a new phone for this plan. I've been looking HTC One S and it seems like a decent phone. anyone knows any other phones work well with this plan and have a good battery life? My budget is under $350, and Nexus 4 is no go for me. Thanks

New Nexus 4 straight from Google for $299 - 8BG - but currently sold out and $349 for 16 GB.

I'm currently using this plan Nokia 710, and happy with battery life after 18 months with Motorola Atrix... seems comparable. There are a lot of Nokia 710's available right now on craigslist/ebay as folks are upgrading to WP8.

I'm wondering this too as i'm going from PP to T-Mobile.

Also anyone with the answer, which wireless refills should i get in order to get this plan?

http://www.callingmart.com/produc...nthly-Plan

It says 1500 talk/text and 30 MB data so that's making me question myself, if i just buy that $30 and load it i should be able to still get my unlimited plan right?
Any tmobile prepaid refill will work. It just adds to your balance. You need at min $30 each month.

So essentially you can put as much as you want as long as money is being taken out of your account.
IIRC, the max balance is $1,000

Hmmm. To all the people who are having issues with VOIP like Talkatone/Groove IP, I want to just throw my two cents out.

I first got the $30 WM plan when I got a Samsung Exhibit II. It was not the best quality at all. Groove IP was literaly echoing and huge delays and distorting words while Talkatone was less terrible but it wasn't great. (A few of my friends told me they would rather text me because my cell phone reception always seemed to be bad) I ended up using my regular minutes because @ 10 cents a minute, I don't mind going over my my monthly limit with the plan.

However, I bit the bullet and bought the Nexus 4 during its launch and I have to say... the quality on Talkatone is borderline amazing. I now have a 30 minute convo and things might get distorted 1-2x in that timeframe. Other than that, no one can tell that it is VOIP.

So in closing.... if your calls are terrible, it may be your phone as opposed to the app...

So, right now I have the "SHARED PLAN: Even More Plus for Families 750 Talk" for 2 lines.

I just called the 616 number, and tell them that I want to switch both lines over to the 30 prepaid plan, the CSR submitted the request, and said within 72 hours, my phone line will stop working and I will received a text message asking me to call the prepaid department, which then I can choose whatever prepaid plan I want and add money to my account. Hope it works out...will keep you guys update.

It should work since it's consider as new activation when you switch from postpaid to prepaid.
I went through the same process, didn't even need to swap sim card.

That's what you should do but how smooth it goes depends on if you get a competent cs person. I had to call 3 times and wait a week before I got someone decent.

Thanks i'll probably do it this week so my transfer will be smooth since my month ends the 21st. That'll give it about 2 weeks, i rather lose a week of my plan than lose a month at the start of the plan.

not true. i wish you can test it out a little longer. both grooveIP and talkatone are hiss and miss on wifi. sometimes i can talk very clear, sometimes, it's very bad.

I am out of contract and think move to this plan. but keep my original T-Moblie #

what should I do? pls advise if u have experience, that will be greatly appreciated~

1. go to Walmart to get this plan. will walmart give me a new simcard with new #?

if not

2. I might need to buy an activation kit (with new sim) to activate via my original T-Mobile phone
---> if I got some activation kit from t-mobile like recent Free simcard offer, can I use it to save little buck?

3. after activation via new simcard kit, call T-Mobile to port my old # to this new # plan? then new # will be no longer available after porting finish?

4. some ppl above said porting take less than 1 days, some said more than 1~2 week...so Does it mean I have chance to loss of use my old # for a long time

pls help or share your valuable experience

great thanks~

Was on the $30 plan for a while and then switched to straight talk. Now planning to take up the $50 plan however it says after 100MB of 4GB speed is capped. Does anyone know is it 3G or edge after 100MB?

Received a text message this morning, but they switch me over to the 1500 minutes and text plan, so I had to call, and the CSR had to talked to a supervisor, but he was able to change the plan for me, with the same sim card, and same old phone number, everything went smoothly....

For T-Mobile, 4G (faux-g HSPA+) is 3G. If you're capped, that means it's to EDGE.
