No love for this deal? Definitely good deal for those with Fry's nearby. Should be FP worthy if they make it available online. Let me be the first to TU.
I posted a similar deal from Newegg that made FP last month. What I was able to gather when researching that deal was that the post-recall drives had an "A" in the model # and should be CSSD-F120GB3A-BK. Fry's product listing shows the model # without the "A". Might not be updated at Fry's, or a FW update might fix everything, but just something to look out for or confirm either way.
I bought one this week with 1.3 and it's slow and unstable. Updater didn't work, and Corsair thus far has been no help. I might return it to Newegg if they don't do something soon. Very disappointed.
My experience has been better - bought one a few months back with the 1.2 firmware. Updated to 1.3 after having to downgrade to the Microsoft AHCI driver. On an AMD 880 chipset, I'm pushing 550MB/s reads and around 250MB/s writes with ATTO benchmark. Haven't had any problems with BSOD's or anything.
I agree with you that Corsair is doing a horrible job of managing the situation - between the joke that is their support forums and the censorship of user's posts, I have very little faith in them.
I also have a Crucial M4 in my laptop that has been 100% rock solid, but I don't know how it benchmarks as I only have SATAII.
