You don't explain where you start.

1) this feature through Paypal or Discover's webite? Logon Discover's website, clicked on "send money" tab, got an error message.

2)called Discover's CSR, was told it's considered as "cash advance". Not sure if CSR knew about the sending money feature.

Here's the deal, unless you really need to pay bills... Paypal takes out roughly 3% per transaction, you would only get 1% cash back. So unless you're really hurting, no deal here.

OLD OLD OLD posting... Dont know why its here now. I have been using this for almost over 6 months now. Maybe this is a good reminder for people who did not have it back then to check now their accounts.

don't do this paypal money sending is not new its been there for years and there is always fee. plus sending card money to others is cash advances which is extra fee, what a nonsense post!

You are wrong. There is no fee or the sender or receiver of these payments. I have been using it for months...

Well ain't that a B. You're absolutely right. Just looked up the terms again. $500 a month, whats that $5 a month. I guess its something for nothing.

It will not permit you to send it to your email you have registered at Discover Card.

Just add another e-mail to your paypal account and send it to that one.

Sorry didn't elaborate the step by step.

1. Log into your discovercard.com account
2. Select SEND MONEY on the menu bar
3. Just enter your recipient's name and cell phone number or email account
4. Enter the amount you want to send
5. Be sure to check "Send money to friends or family" in the transaction type
6. That's it.

Notes:

1. Paypal will charge you 1-2% if you select PAY FOR GOODS OR SERVICES in the transaction type, since this will consider you as a seller from eBay.
2. There is no paypal fee if you select "Send money to friends or family".
3. The transaction is considered as a regular credit card purchase, not cash advance or debit, so there is no interest charge or fee.
4. Even without the 1% cash back. Your recipient will receive the money in his/her paypal account instantly with no fee at all, plus you get to pay discovercard several weeks later when you receive your monthly statement and the grace period.
5. In other words, you send the money now and pay it back 2 months later if you can time it right.

Cons:
1. Your recipient needs a paypal account
2. Although the money is available in the paypal account instantly, and he/she can use it to purchase online immediately, the cash is only available if the recipient manually request to transfer the money to the his/her account and it may take up 2-3 days.

I've checked before I posted it and didn't find any. I received this offer last week from discovercard.

I've been doing this for months. There are at least two different posts about it. I added a comment to the first one about the "Service Unavailable" message but don't think anyone noticed. I get that message every time. When you get the message just leave the window open and go to Discover from another browser. It will work in the second browser window.
