That is a very good price....the BSOD/Freeze reports bother me.

Yeah, I currently own;
1x 80GB Intel X25m G2 (have owned 5) (in Dell D620 laptop) (never a problem) 2x 160GB Intel X25m G2 (Raid 0 in my gaming desktop) (never a problem) 2x 128GB Crucial M4 (was planning on putting both in RAID 0 for Clevo P17hm-3d gaming laptop ) just bought 2 of these HyperX 120gb I owned a 120GB OCZ solid 2 - that drive would randomly lock up.. dealing with OCZ support was troublesome I also owned a 60GB Vertex2 which did not support hibernating with my Dell D620.. both times dealing with OCZ was pretty painful. I am aware of the potential BSOD's which appears to be relating to he newer sandybridge intel chipset's, but it doesn't hurt to try, and if it does BSOD with my gaming laptop, I plan to pull the raid0 Intel drives from my desktop and run a single HyperX in there (as that system is based on the ich10r) which shouldn't have an issue. Either way, this is a good deal for these drives. Thanks OP |

I would not necessarily consider Kingston any more reliable than OCZ since they both use the same Sandforce controller. My Vertex 3 had issues with my Gigabyte Z98 motherboard until the latest bios release. I would turn the computer on and it would restart 3-4 times before getting into Windows. Works fine now. 700 Total SSD's handled between two jobs. Plextor M3s, M5s, Crucial M4s, Intel 320s, and Samsung 470/830s are reliable. 2 M4 failure among ~200 of them. Sandforce Sata II controlled drives, 6 RMAs among ~175 units. There, now you know why I post like I do, professional, personal experience.

It states it has garbage collection, but I would like to see how it stacks up against others such as in this non-trim environment benchmark in which the OCZ fared poorly vs. the Marvell based drives. This is important if you want to use RAID or use Windows XP/Vista or other non-trim supported environment.

If you're a member of club O or want to sign up for it, the Crucial M4 128gb hard drive that everyone raves about is on sale for the same price. Either that, or pay the extra $20 and not have to worry about the sandforce controller.
