Hi everyone:
I just closed my BofA account and hence lost my only visa card. My Discover card serves me well, but I can't get a pricematch from NCIX with it Frown. I received pre-approval mails from Chase for these 2 credit cards, and I am wondering which one is better? Slate has $200 bonus while Freedom got $300, I don't need to transfer balance and I pay my balance full on time every month so the APR really doesn't matter to me much. As far as I know, Freedom gives me 1% to 5% cashback while Slate has nothing? Anyone has experience with them?

P.S. Is Sapphire better than these 2?

I recently got the sapphire preferred card for the 50,000 bonus points if i spend $3k in 3 months. Nice looking card and the annual fee is waived for the first year. Have gotten lots of compliments on the card and the rewards are pretty good.

I would suggest the Freedom card. As for the Sapphire card, I would never have a card that carries an annual fee.

I also have the sapphire preferred, signed up for the 50k bonus.

I got it to replace my schwab 2% card which was discontinued recently. The sapphire card is awesome looking/felling and although i agree its ridiculous to pay a yearly fee(and never have) for a credit card...this card is just awesome looking/feeling and it just makes me want to use it whenever i look at it or touch it.

I have had to call once or twice about the card and whenever i call i get to instantly speak to a natively english speaking representative who has helped me or directed me immediately to someone who could help me with no hold time. That said, i may just keep this card after the first free year.

Also whenever i pay with it the cashiers look at it curiously and give it that "hmm this is a solid/heavy card" shake which i find amusing.

I signed up for the 50k bonus as well and was surprised by the feel of the card.

You are right though, people look at it twice after they touch it.

Really? Compliments? I dont know about you but I sure as sh!t dont get cards to receive compliments...Its not like this is a black card, you arent a baller for having one. I personally dont like the sapphire, everyone says 'zomg its heavy' and can never find the numbers on the back. Not to mention the annual fee...

Anyways OP,
I have the Slate, Freedom, and the Sapphire.

Here is my take:

Slate is worthless. No real rewards, It was my first card ever, I got it only to build credit, and mine only has a 300 limit. I only keep this one because its free and has so low a limit, it makes a great backup to use at shady online sites or to carry with me where I could lose it, like snowboarding or boating.

Sapphire-I only got this card to churn for points. It WILL be cancelled at the end of the year. I don't do annual fees.

Freedom-This is my everyday card. Everything I purchase, with the exception of big purchases/ electronics (I use Amex for those, to double the warranty), I purchase with this card and then pay off monthly. They have decent cashback points, just make sure to activate the 5% on certain categories quarterly.

Have you guys seen the new Freedom card? It looks pretty nice as well, but thin as paper. It is shiny.
