I want to say there was a code that came with Battlefield Bad Company 2 had an expiration date for something (VIP pass? Sold the game to a friend before opening so didn't try to use the code or pay much attention to it). I bought the game in July 2011 and I thought it said it expired in April 2011.

I am wondering if it had gotten the tin foil scratched off before it got to me but it seems odd that this happend.

Amazon issue me a return label to return it and they are sending out a new one. It was a third party , amazon just fullfilled the order.

No it would have this code has already been redeemed. Probably expired. You can try entering it on the console and see if a service code comes up. Googling/talking with CS should tell you what that code actually means

that is kind of dumb
Ill also email capcom because if the code is expired chances are any replacement game will be the same.

I saw some video of a guy showing the box contents and inside the box the code was on seperate card with no foil to rub off to prevent code being made obvious that it had been stolen.

Ya, the main menu on PS3 is called XMB. It sounds like some PS3 DLC will give you the message your getting if you try and redeem the code in game rather than just going to redeem code in account management.
