LATEST CM10 (stable) INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS. (June 2013)
Follow instructions below to install CM9 with ACMEInstaller3. Simply use the following files instead.
CM10 [goo.im] (Ignore the file name. It has been thoroughly tested by me for a few months, and everything works and is stable). As of this posting 2013-04-18 is the latest build of CM10, 4.1.2 Jellybean. 4.2.2 or CM10.1 is not stable and a lot is very broken still. This wiki will be updated when CM10.1 is stable.

This is the website I used to do mine and I found it clear and easy, however, others have run into some issues as there can be some ambiguity, so the instructions below are a rewrite, that omits useless info and clarifies all the necessary info.

You'll first need to make sure you have "novacom.exe" on your computer. If you haven't already installed webosquickinstall on the computer that you are using, download it from http://forums.webosnat
When installing webosquickinstall, the novacom drivers will be offered to you and after accepting and installing them, you'll be ready to go.
If you're STILL having trouble with novacom, go here [github.com] to download the Universal Novacom Installer. Click on the icon showing you a ZIP file from a cloud to download the compressed file. Once uncompressed, open the file under the BIN folder and you should be up and ready!
(If for any reason this won't work, try installing Java on your computer)

LET'S GET STARTED.
For Windows computers, navigate to "C:\Program Files\Palm, Inc" and open the folder. (you should see "novacom.exe" within this directory)
Copy the ACMEInstaller3 and paste it into this directory (Palm, Inc folder)

Boot into webOS
Plug your Touchpad into your computer via the stock USB cable. A USB icon should appear on your Touchpad in your notifications area, with an option to start "USB Drive". Tap "USB Drive".
Navigate to the Touchpad drive and open it, then make a new folder on the Touchpad's drive and name it "cminstall" (without the quotes).
Copy the 4 .zip files for CM9, Clockwork Recovery, Moboot, and Google Apps directly into this folder. Do not extract the contents of these .zip files, leave them zipped.
When the files are done copying, close the Touchpad window you opened to copy files, then "safely unmount" your Touchpad. On a Windows computer, there will be an icon by the clock to do this OR right-click on the Touchpad drive on your computer an choose "eject". Then unplug your usb cable to disconnect it. Hold down the power button on the Touchpad and choose shut down.
Once the Touchpad has shut down, press and hold down the "volume up" and the power button until your Touchpad starts. A big USB symbol will appear on the screen, meaning your TP is ready to install CM9.
Again, connect your Touchpad to your computer via the usb cable.

Open a command window on your computer. For Windows computers, press start then type "cmd" into the search bar and hit enter.
Copy and paste " cd C:\Program Files\Palm, Inc " (without the quotes) into the command window, then hit "Enter".
then copy and paste " novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller3 " (without the quotes)into the command window, then hit "Enter".
You should see 2 penguins and lots of lines of texts. It will spend some time installing the .zips in the "cminstall" folder. After this you will see the Moboot screen with options to boot into CM9, boot into recovery, boot into webOS, or boot into webOS Doctor. It will boot into CM9 by default after 7 seconds.
If you want to navigate the boot menu screen (Moboot), use the volume up and down keys, and enter your choice by pressing the Home button on the Touchpad's bezel.

After booting Android, connect to your wifi router by tapping the 6 dots in the top right corner, then navigate to the "Settings" icon, tap on "Settings" then navigate to "Wifi" and connect to the wifi signal of your choice.
Then navigate to the "Security" option on the Settings page and scroll the right side until "Unknown sources" is visible and tap to check it. This is required to install apps from apps stores like Amazon or from a web page.
Find "Date & Time" on the left. Set your time zone. If the time isn't correct, uncheck "Automatic date & time", set the date and time, then check "automatic" again.
While you're in the "Settings", tap on "Storage", then tap on the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner, then tap on "USB Computer connection", then checkmark "Media Device", to permit you to hook your TP up to any computer, as if it were an external hard drive.

PLAY STORE , AKA GAPPS, AKA GOOGLE APPS, WHAT TO DO IF IT DOESN'T WORK. (revised August 21, 2012)
If the Play Store is missing or dysfunctional. download the latest version [goo.im] and put the zip into the download folder of your TP.
If your TP is off, turn it on and select "boot ClockworkMod: and follow the instructions below.
If your TP is on, hit and hold the on/off button for 1 second and a window will appear. Tap on "reboot". then on the next window, tap on "recovery", then hit "OK".
That will take you straight to a menu that can be navigated with the volume up and down buttons.
Navigate to "install zip from SD card", then hit enter by way of pressing the Home button on the black bezel of the TP.
On the next window, it will stop on the option to "choose zip from SD card". so hit enter again.
In the next window. all your folders will appear, so use the volume buttons to navigate to the "download" folder with the gapps file, then hit enter again.
Navigate to the gapps zip file, and hit enter one more time.
The next window asks you to confirm the decision by navigating to the word "yes" then hit enter, at which point, the TP takes over and flashes the file.
When it's done, you navigate through the menu to reboot and it will update as it boots up and you should have the play store installed.

Please don't go off and run off installing Nightly. Follow the correct procedure to do so. Also remember to run a nandroid backup just incase you mess up. Remember Nightly builds are UNTESTED. Don't go off crying in the forums the latest nightly broke your tablet. Any who, mine is fine

- 1. You MUST backup your profile to webos server before beginning with meta doctor (creation of ext3fs) but AFTER installing preware. Otherwise after creating ext3fs and rebooting, when you go to first start screen with webos credentials, your preware will be GONE
- 2. Also, you MUST build the metadoctor after uncommenting the line INSTALL_WIFI_PROFILES = 1. Otherwise you cannot connect to wifi.
- 3. Guides on lilliputing, infogenra are fairly simplistic. You must read each link they refer to and follow the instructions carefully (must definitely have an idea of architecture in which you are building - important for installing novacom drivers/palm SDK).

The *official* Android on the HP Touchpad owner's thread
Cyan 2.1a linpack score jumped OCing 1.5 on both from 60 averages to 70 avg. nice improvement! Hadn't had had any wifi issues before just kept wifi on always. No sod yet but just put it on.

Thanks rambunctious for the new thread!!!
So who is still having issues on the new build? I still get the sleep of death issue. One nice thing they did fix was google maps, I can now download it from the marketplace and it works great!

My problem at moment is charging seems fine was at 97% last nite and charging fine woke up at 75% still charging. Guess this is why I usually jump in at rc1 at the least. Still aside from the cards this alpha is 10x better than 3.0.4 |

For noob's sake (i.e. me) what are major shortcomings of Android at this point? (i.e. Wifi fixed?)
Eventually when Android is readily available, what will be missing from WebOS? (i.e. TS charging/auto-Exibition?) |

We kind of already had a thread that discusses most of the questions here in this thread.
http://slickdeals.net/forums/show...&t=34239 With Alpha 2, I did not clear cache or Dalvik and my upgrade went smooth. I had no themes or anything else installed if that matters. Sleep of death seems to be fixed for me, Wifi seems fixed for now (More testing tonight). Better general app compatibility, seems a little faster too. When playing music with the screen off I still get static when the volume is loud. That is my number 1 problem right now. Vague questions receive vague answers . . . . . .

Wifi works like a charm. I can install apps from the store. The common ones like the Dolphin Browser, Angry Birds, Google Maps work just fine. Camera shows the picture on screen but cannot capture it. Installed Netflix app but only get the audio.Video doesn't work well in youtube or other sites. A job very well done by the folks at Cyanogenmod. Hope to get fixes for the video in the next release. |

I recently installed the Cyanogenmod 7.1 and I have two issues...1. if I try to reboot into webOS from Android it often will shut down but not restart. I push the on button and it goes right to WebOS. Other times if I try to shut down and restart the screen freezes and I have to hold the center button and power till it shuts down..anyone having these issues?? WiFi worked great at home with wep protection but here at work I see the wpa2 wireless and have all the settings like my phone but it won't connect..I have seen several mentions of wireless issues any suggestions? Also, I placed it on the touchstone last night and woke up this morning and I don´t think it charged at all from android..switched over to webOS and it worked fine...no complaints though..really excited about how smooth the alpha is. thanks for any suggestions or hints anyone can contribute...just want to make sure I haven´t done anything wrong.
