"Some SDer" graciously installed CM9 onto my TP (version 4.0.4 / 9-20120408 nightly) and I'm trying to keep it up to date with GooManager but not quite sure of its operation and afraid to screw up my OS.
I have the following downloaded: - gapps-ics-20120429-signed.zip - update-cm-9-20120522.NIGHTLY.tenderloin.signed.zip Is the first the GooManager application and the 2nd the OS upgrade? When I select "Flash Roms", I'm given a list with both those files available. Can I do them both at the same time? When I select <Order & Flash Selected> the wipe options are - Wipe cache/dalvik cache partition - create backup - Wipe Data (factory reset). I stop there because I about pissed myself in fear Can someone tell me the best way to proceed? Thanks! |
gapps is google apps update-cm is the o/s build I don't know if this is the best way, but I flash the o/s first (including wiping cache) and then the gapps after one successful boot up I got comparisons coming out my ears and she never can hit the pause
If only Morrissey weren't so Morrissey-esque she might overlook all my flaws So lighten up Morrissey |

Didn't make any difference to my TP. I never do the backup although lots of people insist I should. I figure that if it all goes kaplui, I just do a clean install, then sign in to Google, at which point, one by one, all my apps will be restored. I could lose the progress in a certain game, but I don't take gaming that seriously to care. |

I never backup... nothing that I really care about is on there.
The only reason I install gapps afterwards is when I switched to the nightlies, I couldn't open the 'play' app until I installed gapps again (the same version I had before) - so I guessed there was some odd dependency. It was not based on any real empirical evidence whatsoever. But now I'm confident the method works, I stick to it :-) |

Remove email account
Can anyone tell me how to remove an email account?I don't see an option to just remove it under 'Accounts & Sync" Also, how do I bring back the email app? I disabled it under 'Manage apps' and now it looks like it's completely gone. Last edited by RVD26; 05-26-2012 at 06:08 AM.. |

As for recovering the email app, I don't know and don't dare try removing mine to find out, lest I land up like you, without the app. Surely our senior Android aficionados will know how. PS: When you go to Settings. then Apps, then hit All, does the email app appear in that list with an option to enable it? Last edited by RockySosua; 05-26-2012 at 07:04 AM.. |

2) you're expecting a flawless experience WRT (2) the only real issue I've seen is when the headphone jack didn't stop music from being played from the speakers too. Normally, I wouldn't care but I was on an airplane :-) I just booted to webos instead. |

Edit: Revised install info as of July 14, 2012.
This is the website I used to do mine and I found it clear and easy, however, others have run into some issues as there can be some ambiguity, so the instructions below are a rewrite, that omits useless info and clarifies all the necessary info. http://androidforums.com/hp-touch...chpad.html You'll first need to make sure you have "novacom.exe" on your computer. If you haven't already installed webosquickinstall on the computer that you are using, download it from http://forums.webosnation.com/can...4-0-a.html When installing webosquickinstall, the novacom drivers will be offered to you and after accepting and installing them, you'll be ready to go. .................................................................................. To install CM9, you'll will need to download the following files, Acme Installer 2 [goo.im] Clockwork Recovery [goo.im] MoBoot [google.com] Google Apps (gapps) [goo.im] CM9 [get.cm] take the most recent version. IMPORTANT ! Rename the last file called " cm-9-20120714-NIGHTLY-quincyatt " to read " update-cm-9-20120714-NIGHTLY-quincyatt " (in other words, you add " update- " in front of the name of the CM9 file you are using) .................................................................................. LET'S GET STARTED. For Windows computers, navigate to "C:\Program Files\Palm, Inc" and open the folder. (you should see "novacom.exe" within this directory) Copy the ACMEInstaller2 and paste it into this directory (Palm, Inc folder) .............................................................................. Boot into webOS Plug your Touchpad into your computer via the stock USB cable. A USB icon should appear on your Touchpad in your notifications area, with an option to start "USB Drive". Tap "USB Drive". Navigate to the Touchpad drive and open it, then make a new folder on the Touchpad's drive and name it "cminstall" (without the quotes). Copy the 4 .zip files for CM9, Clockwork Recovery, Moboot, and Google Apps directly into this folder. Do not extract the contents of these .zip files, leave them zipped. When the files are done copying, close the Touchpad window you opened to copy files, then "safely unmount" your Touchpad. On a Windows computer, there will be an icon by the clock to do this OR right-click on the Touchpad drive on your computer an choose "eject". Then unplug your usb cable to disconnect it. Hold down the power button on the Touchpad and choose shut down. Once the Touchpad has shut down, press and hold down the "volume up" and the power button until your Touchpad starts. A big USB symbol will appear on the screen, meaning your TP is ready to install CM9. Again, connect your Touchpad to your computer via the usb cable. .................................................................... Open a command window on your computer. For Windows computers, press start then type "cmd" into the search bar and hit enter. Copy and paste " cd C:\Program Files\Palm, Inc " (without the quotes) into the command window, then hit "Enter". then copy and paste " novacom boot mem:// < ACMEInstaller2 " (without the quotes)into the command window, then hit "Enter". You should see 2 penguins and lots of lines of texts. It will spend some time installing the .zips in the "cminstall" folder. After this you will see the Moboot screen with options to boot into CM9, boot into recovery, boot into webOS, or boot into webOS Doctor. It will boot into CM9 by default after 7 seconds. If you want to navigate the boot menu screen (Moboot), use the volume up and down keys, and enter your choice by pressing the Home button on the Touchpad's bezel. .......................................................................................... After booting Android, connect to your wifi router by tapping the 6 dots in the top right corner, then navigate to the "Settings" icon, tap on "Settings" then navigate to "Wifi" and connect to the wifi signal of your choice. Then navigate to the "Security" option on the Settings page and scroll the right side until "Unknown sources" is visible and tap to check it. This is required to install apps from apps stores like Amazon or from a web page. Find "Date & Time" on the left. Set your time zone. If the time isn't correct, uncheck "Automatic date & time", set the date and time, then check "automatic" again. Last edited by RockySosua; 07-14-2012 at 06:04 AM.. |
