I noticed earlier when mine did it that a lot of people are still complaining on this thread here: http://code.google.com/p/cmtouchp...tail?id=75 towards the bottom they are saying it's still bad on 2.1.
I figured out mine wasn't on 2.1...but anyways. I haven't had any issues since I updated and I'm not using CPU or have it over-clocked at all.
I'm curious if you have 16gb or 32gb? I thought I read somewhere that they are both natively clocked differently. Wonder if that affects it. I have 16GB btw. Also, I seriously doubt it would make a difference, but did you do any overclocking on preware?

Actually I have the 32gb, so you might be onto something.

I didn't over-clock it on preware though either. I just did a few patches, but was fine with the speed and knew I'd be putting Android on as soon as I could.

I update webOS today and installed Alpha1 ( by mistake), then updated it to the Alpha2 build via recovery update zip from SD.

Everything seems to be fine now. But yea guess we should be posting which model we have too 16/32gb when we have issues to see if there's differences.

Back on topic..laugh out loud

What's the deal with the MarketPlace. It's not going to save free apps we download? Also can't download from online, since it says no device detected..Dontknow

I like being able to DL online sometimes and install on android later. Hope the official release finds a way to allows this, my Droid does with a custom rom.

Or am I just being slow again? LMAO
Same here, I liked to be able to have the install files (apks?) offline also. So if I ever reset my android TP, I don't have to wifi download them all over again, but rather sideload them.

Where can I get some help with android? I'm total noob to android. For example ...

How do I show the percentage of battery charge left? From the battery icon at the lower right. I see the battery bar, but I want to see the percentage.
How do i close an application?
How do I switch to another application? Am I closing an application? I can't tell.
How do I swipe to navigate, like I did in webOS?
Are there cards in android? Will someone develop one?
How do I change the brightness from the home screen? Like I did in webOS?
How do I connect to a wifi connection, from the home screen? Like I did in webOS. Seems I have to go into Settings?

Good to know! That might be the difference, 16 vs 32 GB units. Btw my unit no longer has an SoD issue. Seems like I found a temp fix.

FWIW, the 32gb one is <1.2ghz natively (without overclocking). I thought only the rare 64gb one came natively at 1.5ghz.

Are there different flavors of Android for TP? Will it be Gingerbread-ish?

I would like to post a scary experience...I was having problems where you would select "reboot to webOS" option and sometimes just "reboot" and it would either freeze or shut down and never restart..had to do it manually. A couple of days ago I started having SOD problem and would have to reboot each time. Last night I was using android and fell asleep with the tp in my lap. Woke up and it would not respond. I rebooted and it would get to moboot and then shut down and restart over and over and over hanging on the HP logo. I tried to web doctor and it would hang on 12%. I found many comments on other threads about that situation and most of the time the tp had to be sent back to hp as the kernel or partition sizes didn´t jive in such a way the webosdoctor was hanging up. A guy posted some code you could input in novaterm and although many posted that it didn´t work for them..it did for me. I would love to have android but not at the expense of bricking my tp. I did the acme uninstall program and can verify that it removed the partitions and everything...I am soooo waiting for the next update and hoping it will resolve the issues with sod and boot up. Good luck to you all for now...just wanted to remind some of you that this could damage your tp possibly. Mine is 32gb with webs 3.04 with patches and was not OC at the time.

That is how they were marketed but they all have the same processor, only the 16 and 32 gig models had governors on them that reduced them to 1.2.

For those of you running Cyanogen mod. Do you know if the Android Tasker app [dinglisch.net] works on the Touchpad? It's my favorite and most used Android Application...Here is what it can do:

Quote :
wake up with a random song from your music collection

Text-to-speech; read out loud: incoming SMS/ phone number, WiFi/Bluetooth status, when
it's time for an appointment, when the battery is low etc etc (Android OS 1.6+ only)

launch a music application when your music SD card is inserted, otherwise a file browser

start the day with a particular application showing

change all your home icons and wallpaper every day, or in particular locations

turn the phone upside down to return to the home screen, tilt 90 degrees to the left and back to toggle speakerphone during a call

create a Home widget to
toggle bluetooth/wifi on/off

launch wireless settings dialog

show a menu of tasks to choose

send an emergency SMS with your GPS location

remap camera etc buttons to other applications, or show a menu of applications and/or actions

decrypt/encrypt and/or zip/unzip application data on the fly when an application is launched/exits

pause music playback while in a particular application, restart on exit

change the Home icon for any application

take a time-lapse photo series (possibly 'secretly')

make a regular backup of a file on the SD card

track your phone location via SMS in case of theft

extend the use of the media button on your headset: take a picture from a distance or go to the previous media track with a long press

record call times and destinations to the SD card

show a popup when an SMS arrives from a particular phone number

setup a birthday SMS to be sent months before it happens so you don't forget

record battery levels over time to a file on SD card

make automatic recordings of what you say during phone calls to SD card
during the night, turn on airplane mode to conserve battery/reduce radiation, but turn it off every 15 minutes to check for SMS/voicemail.

setup a vacation SMS message, with different messages for different callers

launch a music application when headphones are connected
That would be awesome if it could control the Touchpad doing at least 10% of what it does for Android would work wonders for me...

Have found most apps work if not all with a little work. One problem is location based security or anything location needed has to have a workaround for there is not a GPS with this. So you fake your GPS location all those functions would be based on you updating own location. I do doubt if someone stole this TP that your thief would be nice enough to update their location. Aside from that don't see why it wouldn't work. This. alpha is quite functional.

There might in the future, Im sure once the tp is merged back in to cm7 branch people will work on other roms (this is normally when all the drivers get posted). As for gingerbread the current build (and cm7) is gingerbread im guessing you are talking about honeycomb I doubt it as the code was never released and other then the ones that came out with it from the start the are all hacked and modified versions of ZOOM (or another tablet) ported to the tablet. Plus android 4.0 code should be out in the next few weeks.

Any viable benchmarks? Would like to compare how it runs on the TP vs. my Android phone - is that a reasonable expectation?

That happened to me after the Dalvik and regular cache wipes during the upgrade. I tried doing the acme install again and it still happened I then did acme uninstaller then redid installer and it worked fine. I wouldn't worry about it too much, even if you bricked the android install and uninstaller failed it I'm sure there are ways you could get around it.

As for my wallpaper issue I found out why wallpapers aren't working too well on my CM7 Touchpad. http://touchpadfans.blogspot.com/...plied.html. Although I just tried this and no go. There is a potential issuewith changing the file permissions, haven't tried it yet.
