Cabela's is having a sale on the Yugo SKS [cabelas.com] at $199.99 (scroll down to see the ad/price.) This is another $50 off from the $249.99 sale price last week.

There's also a $20 off $150 rebate [cabelas.com] you can try to give a go. If the rebate actually goes through that would make the SKS $179.99 before taxes, which is probably the lowest price in over 3 years.

I might try to buy one with the rebate tomorrow, and if I do I'll be sure to comment on whether they are accepting the rebate or not.

Rebate works total price is $179.99 before tax.

Great find. Too bad there's no Cabela's by Cincinnati.

Rebate works. My total came out to just under $200 for an all matching, still in cosmo Yugo 59/66a1 with the accessory kit. The price tag in the Hoffman Estates store still showed $249.99, but once scanned the system shows the updated $199.99 price. I attached my receipt.

The closest price you can find online is $250 for one with a cracked stock and no accessory kit, and of course you still have to pay shipping and a transfer fee if you don't have a FFL03. I'm tempted to grab another one, but I already made too many purchases lately so for now I'm resisting.

Very nice deal. If I had a closer Cabela's I'd be all over this.

The guy told me that each store got 50 of them in the US and the ad says every store.

Holy crap a sensible price on a nice SKS. Could the "flavor of the month" high prices on them finally be over?

Probably not, all the online retailers haven't budged on their prices. Cabela's used to sell these for $299.99 to $399.99 so it's possible that they are just trying to clear out inventory that they weren't able to move.

Also, the serial on the box is the serial assigned by Century and not the original serial, so if you're looking for a specific prefix rifle you're basically out of luck. The two I grabbed were a H and F prefix rifles, which are the two most common prefixes.

If you get one of these SKS rifles, stock-up on high capacity mags..

Is there any issues to keeping these mags loaded long term, as in spring wear/damage/etc?

Springs weaken through loading cycles, so leaving a magazine loaded should not have any effect on the spring, there's been many cases where people have found 1911 magazines in their attic or basement which have been loaded since WWII and shot them off and they functioned just fine

Thanks Fireblast! I have the SKS and love the way it feels and shoots and the ammo is reasonable...just sometimes it's months between range trips.
