I was looking for Remote extender for my AV system so I can move all my devices to cabinet and have wire-free family room. I was going to buy this Remote Control Extender for $19.99 and saw this combo deal. This Windows 7 remote was included in combo price for only $5 more.

I believe that's true. The IR receiver is connected to the IR blaster and it also has wired IR in and IR out. One of the reviewer wrote...

I'd probably use my Logitech Harmony instead of the remote, but I've heard the IR receiver for this Rosewill remote works pretty good with it. This sounds like it would be a nice setup.

It requires a long wire to run it into another room. Does not seem practical to have a wire running across the floor. I could run it into the wall and into the attic to another room I guess, but that would be quite a task. I prefer the notion of a RF or Bluetooth remote for this type of thing. What do you guys think?

USB tuner anymore because it stopped working since I use it almost everyday after I got it a few years ago. I might pickup this remote if it's $20.

Well remote alone is for $29.99, the combo deal is better, buy it both and may be sell remote extender.
