My wife, child and I used Spirit this past summer for a flight from Chicago to Florida, then from Florida to Peru, and back again. Was absolutely the worst flight experience we have ever had. They nickel and dime you for everything and have the WORST customer service in the business.
I would not recommend them to anyone at any price. |

It would've been $0.50 1-way, $1.00 rt from LAX to SF Bay area, but they managed to add $55 in fees. wtf?

The most annoying fee is the $9 per person/each way they charge for buying a ticket online. Allegiant does something similar. But if you're not bringing luggage and can check in ahead, it's a cheap way to go.
