Tax included depending on your shipping address. When checking out, system does not prompt you to enter SSN or sign up for new contract. It does, however, require you to agree to Sprint's TOS via checkbox. Basically, you're getting the subsidized price without the new contract signup.
iphone 4 8GB = most if not all shipped and expected to deliver on 10/26 to 10/27. Confirmed to work with Verizon, but not Sprint. ESN is clean for both, but phone can only connect to Verizon network.
***-After spending about 2.5 hours with sprint (activations/high level tech support): Iphone 4 8GB is CARRIER LOCKED TO VERIZON by default, so if you're on sprint like me, you're SOL. However, activating the phone on sprint's end (which they WERE able to do) did not affect my upgrade eligibility in anyway and it did not affect my contract.
iphone 4s 16GB = Processing status, no change at all since 10/25. Most if not all had their CC charge pending, and then possibly dropped because Apple have yet to collect any money from these orders.
iphone 4s 32GB = most shipped from China already since 10/26
(Definitely not all. I ordered two black 32gb 4s's and they've been stuck in "preparing" for two days -jello)
update 10/30/11: two black 32gb 4s's regressed from "preparing" back to "processing"... not looking good -jello
update 10/31/11: Black 32gb 4s from "processing" to "cancelled"
iphone 4s 64GB = not a lot of info here, not that many people ordered this, if any.
What's left?. - This is a crazy slick deal, let's do this more organized!
1) Confirmation of unlocked status for iphone 4 8GB CDMA. Sprint only, or both Sprint and Verizon. How about other CDMA carriers?
-The iphone 4 8GB is Verizon locked just as we were told when we sign the T&C. You cannot connect to Sprint network even though they can activate it for you.
2) Confirmation of iphone 4 8GB can be activated on Sprint and/or Verizon without much trouble or contract.
- Confirmed to work after activation on Page Plus from Verizon network. No contract was enforced during activation. Confirmed by several to be capable of activated by Sprint, but impossible to connect to Sprint network regardless. No contract enforced either. Phone is clean as a virgin.
Can the Iphone 4 can be actiavted and used with other CDMA carriers outside USA. According to Verizons website the Verizons phones can work in these countries
http://b2b.vzw.com/international/technology/cdma.html. Some please answer as I want to send this phone overseas (to India)
3) Status on iphone 4s 32GB. Is it unlocked? Clean ESN? Activation okay? Need to be arrived before things can be sorted out
4) Update any status on iphone 4s 16GB of any changes made from Apple, including but not limited to: product shipped, order cancelled without notice, additional e-mail regarding the order received.
Please Post your experiences with Activation Sprint/Verizon/Any Other Carrier (please specify iPhone 4 or 4S.
Ok guys please stop freaking out that you are going to be placed in a contract with Sprint. you are not going to be. I called a rep to change my shipping she asked if accepted sprints terms and conditions and i said yes even though i hadn't so you can activate the phone without being placed in a contract use a turbo sim and unlock your phone to be used with gsm sim card
Please Post your experiences with Checking MEID/ESN Sprint/Verizon.
(2) iPhone 4 MEID are good to go with Sprint and Verizon.
10/26 iPhone 4 phones are arriving, and it appears they are Verizon iPhone 4 models. Nobody has been asked to sign a contract. The iPhone 4S 16gb's have not shipped yet, and with an estimated Delivery of Nov 4 - Nov 14 via Standard Shipping.
Some of the less in demand iPhone 4S 32gb's are being shipped with tracking numbers.
STOP FREAKING OUT ABOUT THE CONTRACT. The usual process for signing up for these is that you run through a credit check and fill in all your personal details and select a plan on the site before even placing your order. The eligibility is ran before the phone is shipped, it isn't like the original iPhone. In the slim chance we actually receive these, it -should- be like we bought it at full retail price from Sprint. Worst case, you just bought a $200 iPhone which you can flip online for hundreds of dollars more. They won't throw a contract at you later.
How to activate the 'GSM' module on this 'World Phone'? Is there a possibility?
Please post failed order amounts here. Followed by hamsters. :-D
ALL PHONES FIXED WITH FULL PRICE >>>>>>
THE DEAL IS DEAD NOW I GUESS>>>>>
GET READY FOR CANCELLATION EMAILS or REFUNDS (CREDIT LIMIT INCREASE) WITHOUT COMMUNICATION
Got one order off my credit card so cancellations started
Did anyone copy the T&C? I think we should post it in Pastebin so that we all have a backup.
If needed sprint has unlocking plans for they're iphones. read details here
There seems to be a lot of confusion over CDMA vs. GSM and off-contract vs. unlocked.
GSM vs. CDMA
GSM carriers use a SIM card. The main US GSM carriers are AT&T and T-Mobile.
CDMA carriers activate a phone using something called an ESN. The main US CDMA carriers are Verizon and Sprint.
Unlocked vs. Off-Contract:
An "unlocked" phone can be used on any carrier that supports the phone's technology. For example, an unlocked GSM phone can be used on any GSM carrier.
An "off-contract" phone is locked to the carrier on which the phone was originally sold. For example, an AT&T off-contract phone can only be used on AT&T. The benefit of being "off-contract", however, is that you do not need to sign any long term contract when you activate the phone.
Now the iPhone is somewhat interesting because there are so many variations. I will discuss the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S versions.
iPhone 4 - AT&T Version:
This phone will only work on AT&T. If you have a compatible baseband, you can unlock it with Ultrasn0w (requires jailbreak) or via use of something called a Gevey SIM. If you unlock it, it can be used with any GSM carrier. Please note, however, that you still will not get 3G with T-Mobile even if you unlock the phone. This is because the iPhone does not support the 3G frequency bands that T-Mobile uses.
iPhone 4 - Verizon Version:
This phone will only work with Verizon. It does not have a SIM slot, so there is not chance of using it with any GSM carrier, be they located in the US or another country. The ESN is likely locked to Verizon's database. So, you probably won't have any luck of getting another CDMA carrier to activate the ESN.
iPhone 4 - Sprint Version
The Sprint version works just the same as the Verizon version. The difference is that it is locked to Sprint (obviously).
iPhone 4 - GSM Factory Unlocked
This phone can only be used on GSM carriers (so no Verizon or Sprint). This phone is virtually identical to an AT&T iPhone 4 that was unlocked with Ultrasn0w or Gevey SIM. If it better, however, because you never need to worry about Apple releasing an update that breaks your unlock.
All iPhone 4S phones are identical. In other words, there are no physical differences between an iPhone 4S on Verizon and an iPhone 4S on AT&T. They all support the same frequency bands. (Also, the iPhone 4S does not support the 1700MHz band. So T-Mobile users are still out of luck for 3G.) Although they are identical hardware wise, they can be locked to a specific carrier via the software Apple loads on them.
iPhone 4S - AT&T Version
This phone is locked to AT&T. Although the iPhone 4S is a world phone, AT&T has decided to lock the SIM slot even to international carriers. So if you need to use your AT&T iPhone 4S internationally, you need to purchase one of AT&T's international plans.
If you bought a phone from apple store without active an AT&T plan and remove the AT&T sim card, after you connect to iTune. It will show you phone is unlocked. Don't know if the Sprint 4S is same. If anyone can upload the screet shot of the original $199 page, we can force Apple unlock our phone, Apple didn't say it's a Sprint phone on that page.
iPhone 4S - Verizon Version
Although the Verizon iPhone 4S has a microSIM slot, it still uses CDMA in the US. Importantly, the SIM slot is unlocked for international use. This means you can use the phone with any international GSM carrier. You cannot use the phone with T-Mobile USA or AT&T USA. Verizon says that the will unlock the phone for international use after 60 days (like it does for all of its world phones).
iPhone 4S - Sprint Version
Although the Sprint iPhone 4S has a microSIM slot, it still uses CDMA in the US. At first, the Sprint version will ship with the SIM slot unlocked to international carriers (so no-go for US GSM carriers). However, Sprint has said that they plan on pushing a SIM lock soon after launch to the device. Then, it will unlock the SIM slot (again) for international use to customers "in good standing".
iPhone 4S - Factory Unlocked
"Unlocked" usually means you can use your phone with any carrier, as long as the phone supports the carrier's technology. However, this is not completely true with the iPhone 4S. Although the factory unlocked iPhone 4S has CDMA capabilities, Apple has said that it will only work with GSM carriers. So if you were to use a factory unlocked iPhone in the US, the only way to get 3G on it is with AT&T.
