DirecTV networking
Hello,I have most of my house on Wifi, but I am trying to get wired internet on the far side of my home. I have my home wired with RG6 for DirecTV networking. Is there any way I can tap into my DirecTV line to get wired internet? Some of my receivers use these: http://www.amazon.com/DirecTV-DEC...B0041INCYI. I tried to hook one up in the room on the far side of the house, but it is a newer receiver (H25-500) and it won't give power to the adapter. Is there any other adapters that would help me achieve this? Or could I get just a splitter with 1 line to the receiver, and the other line hooked up to one of these: http://www.amazon.com/Directv-Dec...gy_e_img_b ? Thanks! I think that is only to get Internet to the DirectTV box itself (I could be wrong here - never used it). Instead of the DirecTV line, why not use wireline and send the networking through your electricity lines? I have used it and it works nicely. I used the Netgear adapters.

You can try to install a second network card in the pc then connect that to the direct TV box can use
For XP look here http://windows.microsoft.com/en-U...on-Sharing for win7 http://www.sevenforums.com/tutori...nable.html You might need a crossover cable since you are going from device to device with no network switch/hub in between but many newer network cards will automatically switch to either mode. A crossover cable is cheaper than powerline adapters, but if you don't have one handy ( who doesn't) but just in case talk to the network folks where you work they may be willing to lend you a cable for testing |

That is the forum I used to get my DTV network up and running. |
