Walgreens 2011 Jingle Cash Details!

Walgreens 2011 Jingle Cash promotion begins December 4th.

Shop a Walgreens store from Dec. 4-17 and you can earn Jingle Cash to spend in stores the following week! You'll get your Jingle Cash coupons at the register when you purchase qualifying items* of $30 or more throughout the store.

How Much You'll Earn
Spend $ 30 - Earn $ 5 in Jingle Cash.
Spend $ 50 - Earn $ 10 in Jingle Cash.
Spend $ 75 - Earn $ 15 in Jingle Cash.
Spend $ 100 - Earn $ 20 in Jingle Cash.

How to Redeem Jingle Cash
Save your Jingle Cash and use it on qualifying purchases* of $30 or more the following week:

Jingle Cash earned from
12/4/11 - 12/10/11 can be redeemed from12/11/11 - 12/17/11

Jingle Cash earned from
12/11/11 - 12/17/11 can be redeemed from 12/18/11 - 12/21/11

*Qualifying Purchases
Jingle Cash cannot be earned or redeemed on purchases of the following products and services:

* Gift cards, Phone cards, Prepaid cards
* Prescriptions
* Dairy
* Items prohibited by law
* Tobacco
* Alcoholic beverages
* Sales tax
* Lottery tickets
* Money orders / transfers
* Transportation passes
* Postage stamps
* Prescription savings club membership
* Healthcare services
* Charitable contributions

Good toward your purchase next week of $30 or more depending on value of total purchase. Jingle Cash coupon will accompany your receipt. When you come back to redeem your Jingle Cash coupon, the amount of Jingle Cash will be deducted from your total purchase at the store. Walgreens Jingle Cash can only be redeemed on a total purchase in excess of $30.00. To earn Jingle Cash, eligible purchases include regular and sale-priced items. If merchandise purchased with Jingle Cash is subsequently returned or price adjusted, the value of the Jingle Cash previously earned and / or the amount of the merchandise refund may be reduced to reflect any unearned value. Jingle Cash cannot be earned or redeemed for online purchases made at www.walgreens.com. Only one Jingle Cash coupon redeemed per transaction.Jingle Cash cannot be redeemed for cash. No cash value. Jingle Cash Earned or Redeemed

Why: The total of $27.20 does NOT meet the $30 minimum requirement.

Jingle Cash is earned before any manufacturer coupons or taxes are imposed.
(i.e., Manufacturer's coupons, Register Rewards).

Manufacturer Coupon Presented
-$3.00

Qualifying Purchase
$32.00

Jingle Cash Earned or Redeemed

I have a question though. You mentioned the Jingle Cash qualifying purchase is before manufacture coupons but your 2nd example is showing qualifying purchase amount after MQ?

Example:
Customer Qualifying Purchase
$35.00

Manufacturer Coupon Presented
-$3.00

Qualifying Purchase(isn't it $35?)
$32.00(OOP maybe?)

Jingle Cash Earned or Redeemed
$5.00

Why: The manufacturer's coupons are NOT deducted from the $30 qualifying purchase minimum requirement.

Their scenario is a little confusing, making it seem like you still have to spend $30 after coupons but it seems the rules are actually as follows:

*IVC (Instant Value Coupons from Walgreens) ARE deducted from the total before you can earn Jingle Cash and your total must be at least $30 after using any IVC.

*Manufacturer coupons redeemed do not effect Jingle Cash earnings as long as your pre-coupon total hits $30.

Also I see they made some wrinkle/adjustment from last year.
If I remember correctly, I think they had JC for 3 weeks last year. Also I know I used the JC for whatever amount purchase last year unlike the exclusion listed above in BOLD.

If the register accept the JC like it say above. They make us spend $30 twice for the $5 JC to earn and use.(or $50 x2 for $10JC, $75 x2 for $15JC and $100 x2 for $20JC.)
I wonder if we can earn another JC on the transaction which we use the JC as long as we add more to total? Like $35 with $5JC, $120 total with $20JC.)

Anyway, I can't wait. Since I held back my printer ink refill kit purchase for this. I probably need to buy 2 of those which is about $30 something and hopefully add $20 more for RR stuff to reach $50. Then again, I don't know what I am gonna do the week after to come up $50 to use the JC.
I know $30 total is sucker since you only get $5JC and every other JC is 20% of total. Then again, I have to think as possible 3 transactions require same amount or more.(possibly, $30, $35, $35 for $5JC or $50, $60 and $60 for $10JC. This could be a lot of purchase without RR items or MQ's.) I might have to save some high value MQ's. Too bad $8/2 CG is done. laugh out loud

And hopefully, I can see the ad in 3 weeks advance when this start.

I guess some part I didn't make myself clear. I know they were only good for the week following.(and I do remember one time it was shorter for whatever the reason)
I just mentioned 3 weeks because OP mentioned about the requirement of total amount to use Jingle cash. Which I don't think they did that last year.
So if that requirement is the case, I need to plan ahead to earn the JC and use it. If they indeed require the total purchase amount to use the JC, I have to plan the transaction that have enough purchase amount.(I hope it is not the case but OP mention and Bolded it .)

Also I do remember I could earn JC from the transaction that I used the JC "last year" as long as I deduct the JC value from the total purchase amount(treat as store discount).
But because of the new register update and what not, I am not sure how it gonna work this year.(I mean, I don't think we know for sure if using JC for transaction will cause problem to print another JC or not. This coming year.) After all, this is WAG so we never know until we get to the day we have the chance to try, I think.

And I do remember fondly about the JC reduce the tax amount.(yap. I remember I bought some $10RR item that is usually the taxable at my State and using the $10JC and I paid nothing and got back $10RR last year. Which was sweet.) Big Grin

Just like Target, store Q reduce tax at my State.(And I start to wonder if that is the reason some of the store start to put "manufacture Q" on the store Q.)

I hope it works like last year but sounds like they made some new requirement/changes from what I read about the OP post. Frown

According to this from their website, you can only redeem one JC per transaction. Given that, I don't believe I'll be intentionally accumulating these and may end up letting any I do collect just expire unless there happens to be a $30 deal worth doing. They've taken all the fun out this promotion IMO.

Whoa, I didn't realize they changed it to having to spend $30 to USE them as well. That now makes this program DOA.

Perhaps could have pieced together something for BF if they allowed you to use them same day/week but with the December start date again no dice.

I'd guess that nobody knows how this will all eventually shake out - including Wags coporate HQ. It will be interesting to see over the next 4 weeks.

OK, I spent about an hour looking at the details for last years JC promo. While I still have not found a site that has the promo completely laid out like it is here, I got bits and pieces. If anyone can find a full listing of the 2010 JC program, please post.

ETA - Read all of last year's thread that was started by Karma. It was a limit of one per transaction, and using a SJC (Super Jingle Cash) deducted like an IVC.
