My first deal post, so take it easy on me! Smilie

Anyway, I've been looking for a snow blower and found that the MTD Pro 277cc 28 inch Snow blower is on sale at Home Depot for $599.

It is last year's model which retailed for $1100 and has been on sale recently for $799, but was just reduced to $599 for closeout. My local Sears, Kmart, and a couple others are still selling this for anywhere from $950 - $1100 and the cheapest I could find online was $750 refurbished. So I feel like $599 new is a great deal. It's hard to find anything with near that big of engine and 28" wide for that cheap. My local store had 5 in stock, but they aren't listed online at all anymore so I can't find a link to check inventory.

MTD is the company that makes Craftsman, Troy Bilt, Cub Cadet, Yard Machines, and a couple other snow blower brands FYI. It's not an Ariens or anything, but it's a decent machine regardless.

Here are the reviews from Sears website:

Hopefully other Home Depots have inventory left, as well!

You clicked the wrong thing. That's because it's on sale at Home Depot, not Sears. :p The link is just to the reviews on Sears as an fyi of its ratings.

Neither store lists it for sale online anymore since it's a discontinued model, but both of my local stores have it in stock, $1100 at Sears and $599 at Home Depot. But there's no way to tell stock at Home Depot without calling or going to the store...

Why not just buy it at Home Depot, and use a 10% off coupon? What's the benefit of buying this year's model over last year's?

edit - my mistake. I misread, thought the OP was advocating a price match to Sears, who is selling this year's model versus the 2010 version that HD is selling. Carry on.

Nice deal if you can find it. Snowblowers are flying out the stores at Home Depots around here already. People probably are thinking another winter like last year.

Yeah, same here. I was in Home Depot yesterday and there were quite a few people shopping for snowblowers. Supposed to snow all weekend here! This model of MTD was off to the side away from the others and there were 4 more stowed away by the shovels and such. I saw it at Sears last week, like I said, for full retail.

It's the Idaho Falls store #1802. Not sure how many will be left today. There were 5 last night, but I bought one, leaving 4. I thought it was a price mistake.

I don't have any way to scan the receipt right now, but the item number on the receipt says:
610697 28" SNOW <A> 599.00

and the cashier had to manually put it in for some reason. Hopefully other Home Depots have some in stock at that price.

Online inventory check shows every store in my area to be out of stock for item# 610697. That is for the Bethlehem, PA area. Debating if its worth driving around and checking them. Certainly seems like a good price. Good luck to those who find them.
