Site Changes and Revision History Log

It looks like the revision history stopped being updated in march? Anyway.. that new thing you're doing where the avatars only load when they're visible is really annoying. It's distracting. Can you just preload all the avatars. How much are you really saving. Even avatars that are already fetched are appearing slowly instead of being visible already. So if I scroll down and an avatar appears for some guy then you'd expect the next time there's a post by some guy the avatar would already be visible but instead it appears it takes a second to load.

ummm, i should be subscribed to this thread. how come the july posts never showed up in my new subscribed posts box on my notification & activity page?

also, why can't we attach .docx? i have MS Office 2007 and i tried to attach a word doc this wknd and it wouldn't take. i had to ask in the target thread what to do and was told to save as MS word 97-2003. that's like 10 yr old technology. i know my ms office is already old and it's now 2012. having to save my .docx as .doc also is annoying and wasting time b/c i have to save twice and then can't tell which is which when i'm trying to attach them. i'm going to be doing this every day this wk so pls can you update to attaching .docx?

• Facebook and Google Accounts Integration - Users will now be able to register with, or link their existing accounts to their Facebook or Google accounts for easy sign on. Additional benefits from this will allow users to easily and automatically post content to facebook if linked (such as sharing whether or not you Bought an item or Thumbed up a deal, or created a new deal thread).
• Following Users - This new feature allows you to subscribe to a user, and get notifications whenever they post a new thread.

Does this apply to just the Deals Forum and/or Deal Discussion threads or will this apply to all threads (such as in the Lounge)? Is there an option to opt out of being followed? After all, I can't make it too easy for cupcake42 to stalk follow me.

Theoretically since you post publicly there should not be any way to opt-out of being watched (the mechanics are similar to someone creating a deal alert for your name, or searching for it), but I think they're working on something.

It'll work for all forums, and potentially allow users to pick which forums to follow a user in.

For example, we're thinking of letting people say "Follow bryantq when he posts in Hot Deals" or "Follow marg_fan in All forums".

Maybe you should stop giving cupcake a reason to stalk you.

I understand it is easy to follow someone if you wish by using the "find more posts by" or the "find threads started by" links. Sort of defeats the purpose of this new feature but I digress.

Will this be like twitter? It tells me I have 7 followers and am following 9?

About the cupcake thing, you've read some of my posts. Do you honestly believe I've given anyone reason to follow me?

Does that mean that we'll be getting the additional category tags we requested some time ago for the drugstore forum? Currently the category tags we have are limited and don't cover all of the topics in the thread. So lots of thread are left without categories as they don't make sense to add.

We will consider requests for new categories, but we have to see that there is a quantifiable need. Thus, my advice to you is to start to tag them using the custom user tags first.

Sorry for being dense here, but in like my Printable thread (not my thread, but I'm the OP), I only have 5 category tags and they don't fit the thread. Is that what you meant by custom user tags? Or is there something I'm missing?

At the top of the thread there is a gray bar that says "Tags: " followed by the categories, but you can also add custom tags by just writing it in (hit "Add new tags").

But you can continue to submit suggestions for categories and we'll take a look.

Ah, I gotcha. I was talking about the boxed category tag icons that show up to the left of the thread in a summary view that you can filter by, etc. I may be calling them the wrong thing.
