TOTALLY CRAPPY LCD??? No just kidding. I think I gave one of these out last year for an employee raffle prize and I have not heard back from them that it broke so its probably ok. I think Im waiting for BF. I'd bite on this at $300.
Has been $299 after rebate at Menards this fall ($399-$100 in store rebate credit = about $330 net cost @8% sales tax) . Be sure you get updated firmware because the stock firmware drops your HDMI connection every few minutes otherwise.
Supposedly these have Samsung panels in them == good, but the remote codes are not supported by many universal remotes/sat remotes.
The picture on the Amazon product page suggests that TCL stands for 'The Creative Life'. The reviews are indeed good (especially considering that many of the bad ones relate to a screen-blanking problem that an available firmware update allegedly fixes).
However, the first of the 1-star reviews suggests that this TV was selling for $260 last November, so it might be prudent to wait and see whether that repeats.
Edit: My error - the 1-star review I saw above was for the 32" model (why Amazon doesn't prune reviews for different models I have no idea), so this may be an excellent price right now.

They have a new LED version but it hasn't hit the stores at these lower prices yet. the spec sheet for the LED one was referenced from one of the old threads about this TV either at Menards or Amazon IIRC.
I think the power consumption was about 40% less on the newer LED and the case was significantly thinner. This case is thick due to the CCFL. If you have a BigLots near you, they should have this one for sale at $399 to look at in store (though not connected). If in upper midwest, your local Menards may still have one or two straglers from the September sale left as well.
