Millionaires on Capitol Hill: Please tax me more! "Lobbyists for a day, a band of millionaires stormed Capitol Hill on Wednesday to urge Congress to tax them more." Quite interesting... "If you think the federal government can spend your money better than you can, then by all means" pay more in taxes than you owe, said Grover Norquist, of Americans for Tax Reform, a group that has gotten almost all congressional Republicans to pledge to vote against tax hikes. The IRS should have a little line on the form where people can donate money to the government, he suggested, "just like the tip line on a restaurant receipt." "One of the millionaires suggested that if Norquist wanted low taxes and less government, 'Renounce your American citizenship and move to Somalia where they don't collect any tax.'"

Wasnt there a report that if we taxed all "rich" people at 100% over 200k, it wouldnt even dent the yearly deficit? Much less the rest of the bloated budget, and we all know that the politicians would spend it as soon as it came in and we'd be stuck at the starting line all over again.

Anyone can, at any time, give money to the federal government:

Who wants to bet that deep down buried in the fine print, they'll pay for higher taxes in one instance, while getting new tax reductions or adding new loopholes somewhere else in their income, or for their businesses? More smoke and mirrors, rich people dont stay rich by giving away money just for the hell of it.

Look, this claim is in serious variance with this other claim that 1% of people pay about 50% of all the taxes. Or look at this from the opposite direction: if x% of people pay 50% of taxes, then 50% of any deficit or debt if rectified in the future must come from that x%. The super rich should stop this incessant whining. It is kinda sickening/nauseating. |

Do tell. |

Yeah, I was about to say that. Apparently, those millionaires aren't too bright. |

Actually taking care of the piggy bank and updating retirement ages along the way would have prevented this.
Fair is fair, right??The super poor and lazy should stop this incessant whining and get a job and do something with their lives. Their lack of motivation is sickening/nauseating to the rest of us who work. |

Ron Paul does not participate in the federal pension plan. http://paul.house.gov/index.php?o...&Itemid=28 If I appear to be ignoring your posts, it's probably because you are on my ignore list.

Many rightwingers even claim that SS is immoral because it is a ponzi scheme and because it is theft and because it is borrowing from our children. Fine. Do you think rightwingers would refuse to accept their SS when they become eligible? You made a logic/math claim and I addressed it. Now, please let me know if you disagree with my logic/math. Thanks. |
