yes, you can but there are monthly fees if you don't meet some certain minimum balance. my baker told me that i should just have a reoccurring transfer of $25 each month from checking to savings in order to waive all fees.

There was a period in college when I did this religiously. I'd sign up for an account at Keybank or Chase or something like that, and set up an alert in my calendar. After the period expired, I'd take the GPS or the cash and I'd go to another bank for the required minimum. I hopped checking accounts all the time throughout college. Got my parents' GPS' and my sister an iPod for Christmas that way. I had two jobs, so I had two direct deposit happening.

And to make sure I knew where everything was going, I used Mint.
